Busy Busy

Grocery shopping, this morning, cost me more time and money than ever before! An hour and a half and too much dollars!! It seemed that everything had gone up and our grocery list contained EVERYTHING!! So by the time we got home, unloaded and then put away the fridge/freezer stuff it was time to leave the rest on the floor and pick up Jessica before returning for lunch and more unpacking.
The hour we had left, till picking up Megan, just flew by as did the time after school. Dave came home for an hour before leaving for soccer training. That was nice and needed! He was picked up this morning and went up towards Gordon for work.
So with the hum of the dishwasher, more like a clunking whirr really, I am off to tell Megan her bedtime reading time is up and tuck her in before sorting thru some of the stuff thats still waiting to be upacked and given a home. Joy oh Joy!

Grrr and giggle

Grr because the CSI that was on last night was a repeat! How dare they! Survivor, on the otherhand, looks like it will be well worth watching, I love the mix of the groups and having smaller groups means we see the personalitys and group dynamics brought to the surface earlier. Ick to the worm she ate!
And the giggle was for the conversation Jessica and I had yesterday. She wanted chicken sandwiches for lunch. She was terribly upset when I said we had no chicken, got her to check the fridge as she didn't believe me! I told her that I can't just make a chicken for her to have. Her reply was well thought out.... "If we got some roosters then they could make a chicken"

Megan has reached the realisation that boys have more fun than girls. She told me she doesn't want to be a girl anymore, wants to be a boy. Boys play all the cool games and she gets picked on for holding hands with the boys when they line up etc., will have to tell her about having the best of both worlds! She also told me she wants to change her name, Tegan would be better. I just told her I don't like the name Tegan, I always loved Megan. Told her I was so glad that she was born as it meant I could name her Megan. Hope it all gets thru to her!

Elizabeth is funny, she has always loved sitting in things. Today was no different, she pulled out lots of toys so there was room for her in the toybox. The sunroom floor was covered again!

I think Lucy's getting more teeth through. Red cheeks, dribbles and chewing on things... She had a good chomp on her toe this arvo! Still full of cuddles for her Mummy so I'm happy!

Sunshine and Storytime

About sums up today. Storytime was good, as usual. Was funny to see that all (and I mean every single one!) of the kids had the fidgets and it was the busiest and noisiest storytime I've been too!!
This afternoon was very sunshiny and seeing as its my favourite time to take photos and we were in my favourite photo spot, outside, I went snapping. Sharing just some of these pics with you, I took many more as usual!
Made a yummy stew in the slow cooker for tea and Megan commented on how yummy the cabbage tasted so it must have satisfied her tastebuds! Was a very cool start to the day so Autumn is definitely upon us. Looking forward to daylight savings ending so the sun has been out a little longer when we start our day.
Megan enjoyed using Messenger last night, talking to Grandma. Megan had got up for a drink and so we let her natter for awhile. Was amazed to see how well she can type and spell words, she really knows her way around the keyboard. She knew to make the i into a capital I, I kept nudging Dave to look at what she was doing. Grandma she loved it, thank you!!
Glad CSI is back on Tuesday nights, don't like it when they mess with my tv viewing! I can hear Dave nodding, sorry Dave I know I rave about stuff like that but someone has to!

Whistle while you work

or in Megan's case it was whistle while you sleep. Did you know you could whistle in your sleep?? I do now! She was talking in her sleep, calling Elizabeth and then whistled her... Wonder what the dream was about!!
Today was mostly filled with finding headlice eggs in Jessica's hair YUCK. We found some in her hair yesterday, dosed her hair with the lovely headlice treatment and then today I went thru it several times pulling out the dead eggs. Icky little vermin they are! Dave if your reading this at work tomorrow, have you rang Samuel yet??!!
Elizabeth has been sooky most of the day, getting cranky if you look at her the wrong way. Hoping that its nothing and a sleep will make her the happy chappy that she usually is!
Not much else to report on, school and storytime at the library tomorrow.

Uncle Samuel's visit

was a lovely evening. Tea was yummy (too much as usual!) and after the girls had gone to bed we set out to beat Samuel at Mario Party. Sadly Dave won and I lost! Was lots of fun though, even if Dave STOLE my star in the vary last go!!!
Just had to share some Jessica quotes from last night:
"I CAN HOP ON 2 LEGS"
"HE SHAVED HIS EYEBALLS"
Never question her wisom!!!
Also one from Megan today, she didn't want to help clean up
"MY LEGS AND BELLY ARE ANNOYED"

On that note i'm off to put the jug on and watch the closing of the Commonwealth Games

Childless

All of them are at Mum and Dad's! But more about that later.
Yesterday (Friday) we dropped Megan off at school and then went to MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers group). Was a nice relaxing time as always, then back home for lunch and packing bags. Dave came home early, hooray, so he was able to come to pick up Megan before we went to Mum and Dads.
We left there and wandered around town for awhile before having tea at 'Little Bali', not a bad feed for $16.50 which included both our meals and a drink!, walked back thru town and called in to the Glenorchy cinema and raided the change tin to go and see Aeon Flux. Wasn't what we thought it was going to be, not sure if it was worth the $14 each we paid but it was nice to see a flick as we haven't been to the movies together since.... nope can't think but probably close to 2 years if not longer.
Spent 12 hours in bed!!! in before 10, out before 10. I don't know how often I will be able to say that but it has been nice.
Tonight we have Uncle Samuel and Louise coming for tea, belated b'day tea for Uncle Samuel. So its going to be a hectic trip to pick up the girls and be back to start cooking. Having chicken bits and skewers so that will be easy, will cook some wedges too, which will please the girls as they love them, probably because they get to have sour cream with them.
Is a lovely sunshiny day (so far) and I better put the washing out so it enjoys it too :)

Irk and Grr

Thats how i'm feeling :) The girls are giving making me work for my money, so 2 pooey nappys, threats and grumbles later they are all still awake and giving me grief.
Anyway the rest of the day was ok. Finally got to have a look in the craft shop, main Rd glenorchy, and bought some tubes of assorted buttons and then went over the road to Scrappers Heaven. Was naughty, but confessed to Dave not long after, and bought some stamps. Good thing about the pack I bought was their are various styles of each letter so I will be able to use them lots.
Also called in to the Family Day Care centre, to see if they still ran playgroup, and caught up with the lovely Karen who used to run the playgroup that we went to when Megan was a baby. Was really good to see her again and she remembered us, more Dave though :( as it was unusual for a Dad to be seen at playgroup.
Mum called in late this arvo and had tea with the girls, which they loved!! Daves started back with soccer training so i'm waiting for my tea to eat with him.

Flashy E and roll on Christmas!

Elizabeth's sneakers had had enough walking! They had a big split across the toe, so after dropping No. 1 and 2 off at school we did some grocery shopping and then went to target. Elizabeth is now the proud owner/wearer of some flashing shoes!! She didn't want to part with her old ones though. 'I love my old shoes' she said as she put them in the bin as instructed.
Also found some bargains at Target... can't tell you what because they are for Christmas, but lets just say Megan will be singing up a storm Christmas morn and for something that was not quite 75% off I'm going to let her!!
We went visiting after school again today. Went to Peter's house. His Mum Fiona is lovely and he has a little brother who is Elizabeth's age and a clown just like Elizabeth. They live opposite school up a VERY steep hill. Was impressed that Elizabeth walked all the way without a complaint! Peter is in grade 1 too and they moved from NSW 4 years ago (I think).
Think thats about it for this Wednesday...

And had to mention

Dave started the day saying 'goodmorning Precious' to everyone. Elizabeth didn't like it at all and told him 'I'm not called that'!
hmmm precious indeed!

Who'd have thought...

Elizabeth choose strawberries over lollies!!! I offered her a choice and oh my I have a girl after my own tastebuds, she choose strawberries!! Jessica didn't shock me she, of course, had a lolly. In fact she had 2, they were stuck together, she gave one to Elizabeth, as all good sisters who share should do, but after a bite Elizbeth gave it back to her and asked for more strawberries! Sorry Grandma I'm claiming Elizabeth back from the sweet-tooth side of the family!!!
We spent the 'after school' time at the park with a boy in Megan's class. He lives with his Grandparents in New Norfolk so we met them at the park near Rosetta High. I didn't even look around at Dave's old stomping ground, was too busy keeping Elizabeth from being spun too fast on the Hurdy Gurdy (or the Red Thingee as Jessica called it).
Went to Storytime at the library again this morning and we found a Charlie and Lola book to borrow. I LOVE CHARLIE AND LOLA!! Not just because of the way they are written but also because of the wonderful pictures they use (in the books and on the TV series), it reminds me soo much of scrapbooking and how wonderful colours, patterns and the way a smart layout can turn anything into something special. Love Love Love Lauren Child for making these books and the telly program is just wonderful! Don't know what i'm on about then http://www.charlieandlola.com/ might show you. You'll either agree or walk away shaking your head wondering what i'm on about!!
Anyway's I's think's that's it's... Oh and I just remembered the sprinklers on so I better go turn that off before I see a giraffe or two float by :)

How to get fit without a camera! HA!

Since moving we have missed getting out and walking, me more than the kids I think. So today, just before lunch, Jessica, Elizabeth, Lucy and I went around the block. Probably a 10-15 stroll that was enough to show how much Elizabeth has missed walking. She sooked when we had only gone 3 houses down!! I then made her sook again in the afternoon, I parked the car near a reserve that backs onto a road that has a walkway thru to school. Was nice to be out walking again.

Jessica and Elizabeth played connect 4 today. Jessica was able to make them both laugh (long and loud) by dropping her piece down the back, into the tray, rather than into the slot. It clattered about and was enough to make Elizabeth crack up! So of course I took a photo of it. Dominos was a little more subdued after that!

Was another day of pigtails, I think the hairbox helped them with the idea. I'm not sure if I am totally satisfied with it but its finished, being used and not wrecked after day1 so i'm happy!!

Lastly I just have to share this photo of Lucy. It was taken last night. They had icecream in a cone for dessert and Dave said 'ta' to Lucy who eagerly complied and handed over her icecream so she went from this:
to this:
poor mite!!! She did get her icecream back and loved it, naughty Daddy!

How to get fit with a camera.

Bet thats got you guessing!! This lovely sunday afternoon was spent chasing EVERYONE around the house with the camera, some 200 photos later I stopped! I am sooo thankful for a digital camera with a memory card. I think it was the first time that all of the girls were willing to have their photo taken and that was probably helped by the fact there were no group photos and they weren't asked to pose. Also figured out that if I ask someone to clean up they won't but if I break down that clean up into one bit at a time it will get done! The sunroom/play room had every toy, dressup, lego, dolls clothes and doll on the floor. I asked Jessica to clean up and she just wouldn't so I asked her to pack up the dress ups and she did, then I asked her to put the lego away and was somewhat shocked that she did and then everything else got done too! Amazed am I!! Am sure the stratergy will never work again but it did today! Its been another day where the weather couldn't decide what it wanted to do so its been sunshiny and rainy all at the same time, got to love it!Finished painting my letters HAIR for the box so now to decorate them and glue them on, hoping they stay on for more than a week after the girls are allowed to use the box. Time will tell :)

Just a few of the photos I took today. One of each of us. Lucy loves this pose and the pants faling down just adds to the cute-ness of it. Elizabeth just loved talking to the camera, Jessica still had chocolate around her mouth from the giant freckle she ate after lunch and Megan is growing up much to fast! Glad she can do cartwheels and handstands because I can't!!! Finally got a lovely photo of Dave, which took a lot of getting as he kept wanting to nick the camera or steal a kiss, neither of which I was happy with ;) and finally a photo of us, well Dave and half of me!! Half is better than none I say ;) Posted by Picasa

Another full day :) went out to vote (election time here in Tassie) and confused the girls by going to school to do so. Megan and Jessica wanted to vote too and pretended to do so!
Home to use our new toy. Was the second time its been used but the first for me (photo of Dave using it the first time).

Am impressed because I started it!! Been a long time since I have mowed the lawn let alone started a lawn mower! What a blessing it is to have a wonderful lawn mower, that doesn't break down and is easy to start Oh and has a grass catcher!
Allison arrived as I started the front lawn so poor Dave got to finish off for me. The afternoon was filled with Shark Tale, dancing, reading library books and general mucking about.
And now i'm off to make a coffee for the king and I before sitting down to watch the telly and start scrapping some big letters for a box I am making for the girls. Its to put all the hair ties etc in, they, the ties not the girls, have been sitting in a plastic bag since we moved, patiently waiting for me to find something to store them in.
Ok better put the jug on or the coffee won't taste that good. Posted by Picasa

Well I've done it now...

Entering the world of the blogger (gee I don't know about that label but i'll wear it and grin!). Its a step that had to be taken at some point and hopefully I won't regret! Time will tell and its time thats needed to fulfill my desire to have something here to show the mayhem of my life.
Today was just an example, dropping Megan off at school, heading down to visit Allison, before coming back to pick Megan up and enter into the darkzone that is 'after-school YUCK'. Is a time of day that I wish never happened but always seems too. Someone is always tired and sooky, another has too much energy is ready to pick on someone else, someone is always cross, hungry, tired or fedup with not having things her own way......... But then you know that once tea is over and bathtime had it will be a blissful time of bedtime stories, sweet smelling sweethearts and cuddles galore. Oh and then silence and stillness until that satisfying moment when you peek into their room and see their sleeping figures breathing gently and then you know that all the hardwork of the day is for just a time as this *sigh*.
So here is the start, of what I hope to be, of daily, or close to, delights in the world of my 4 squirts and a dollop of cream!
