they made the day go by so much quicker!!!
Allison and 4 of her day care kids came to visit today, was great to have them here.
Then Mum came for an hour or so, the girls swamped her!!!

Not Just another Manic Monday!

Well not quite :)
Lots of tidying up all over the place today, laundry, kitchen cupboards etc etc
Elizabeth, Lucy and I went and had lunch with Dave at work. Was nice :)
Not much else really... About to go announce this weeks winner at Dare to Be Nice and issue Dare #3, really shocked that the week has gone by soooooo quickly!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUCY!!!

I have a 2 year old again :) She was awake a bit thru the night but today hasn't been complaining about her head. Lucy seemed to have a good day although tiring. Had a lovely BBQ lunch with Mum and Dad.

Saturday Post Number 2!!

Ok so Uncle Samuel isn't here... We had a little bit of drama:



Around 4.30pm Lucy, the dare devil, was standing on top of a plastic wash basket, they use them to store their shoes etc but hers is used as a step into bed, showing off, when she lost her balance, while getting down, fell backwards and banged the back of her head on the window sill that is at floor level. Anyways it split the back of her head open. We all went to the After hours Dr, DAve drove while I held a wet face washer on her head. They had a half to quarter hour wait so I took the other girls back home to finish off cooking tea. Went back to get Dave and Lucy when they got out. The Dr had put some 'glue' on the wound and we put a bandage over it at bedtime (which has since been taken off by Lucy, she didn't really want it on). Can't wash her hair till Wednesday so the 'glue' can pull everything back together.
So our evening has changed, Samuel and Louise were almost here when we rang to say we were off to the Drs and thought it better if they came another day. Poor Lucy has a lovely way of remembering her 2nd birthday :) Everyone at the Drs said Happy Birthday to her so she loved that :)

Apple pie in the making!!

Dave is cutting up the apples, that had fallen from our tree, and about to stew them ready for some of his yum apple pie!!
Lucy is in bed and the other 3 are 'meant' to be watching a movie, one of the DVDs one of them got for Christmas and they hadn't watched yet. Elizabeth is between the telly and the kitchen, she is usually Daddy's kitchen hand and feeling a bit left out lol.
Uncle Samuel and Louise are coming for tea, to wish Megan a belated happy birthday and an early one to Lucy. Have to go to the butcher to get something for them to eat, we have kievs out for tea so will have to go get 2 more.
Dave and I watched 'The life of David Gale' last night, at our 'movies'. Interesting movie with quite a few twists.
Can't think of anything else but will leave you with this piccy of Megan, dancing to the Rouge Traders this morning. Love that she likes wearing 'girl' stuff and looking forward to seeing her 'look' develop as she gets older, although I have no doubt there will be words from Dave or I like 'you are not wearing that out of the house' or 'that is too short' or 'your not really going to wear that, are you??!!' or 'put on something to cover your belly!'. All fun :)

A layout, a conversation and some ummm fly thoughts...

Last night I did some more scrapping and completed ANOTHER layout of Megan. This time its with photos of when she was 3 1/2 and the day before she turned 8. The glasses reminded me of the older photos and I just had to scrap it!!


Today Elizabeth asked "Who made this house?"
My Reply "A Builder"
She then asked "Who made my bed?"
I was nice and didn't say no one, its not made yet! But answered "A Carpenter"
"Who made this lounge room?" She then asked
"A Builder" was my reply and then trying to change the topic I asked "Who made you?"
Her reply was thought over for a bit and then a simple "God"
Smiles are made of that!!!

Ok so to the thoughts on flies... I bet it's not something you have thought of but it is an insight into the workings of my wee mind :)
When a fly gets sucked up into a vacuum cleaner, does he think he is in Heaven or Hell???
Why do I think of flies as Male?
Other than what may or may not be obvious, how do you tell a boy fly from the girl flies??
Do you think there is anything a fly won't touch???
Do flies have hairy legs?
Just how far can a fly fly??

Well Dave just rang from Sydney airport where he now has an hour and a half to fill in before his flight home. YAY!! Will pick the girls up from school and then head on down to the airport to wait for him to arrive shortly after 4. YAY YAY YAY Love you Dave :)

Proud of me??!!

I used the time Dave is away and scrapped 2 (YES 2!) layouts last night.
This first one, of Megan, is about how she loves water now but before.... well as a baby she would scream, as a toddler she would cry, as a preschooler she did both but now... Its also about how I hope she learns to swim properly and continues to enjoy it. Julie Love had mentioned, on her blog, how she wanted to scrap using more photos so I took up the challenge and here you go:


This one is of Ralph, Megans beloved toy dog. The last time she stayed at Mum and Dads she came home with this lovely cat collar that Poppy had caved and bought her. Boys really do wear bling!!


Today we didn't stay home. We went and visited Allison, then after lunch went to Mum and Dad's. Was a very busy day, doing all that between the school run, and I am feeling very tired now, but it SEEMS to be all quiet so here's hoping it stays that way!! I was in bed a bit after 10.30 and slept right thru till 6.23am which is Elizabeth and Lucy's usual time of yacking so much I wake up!! Hoping for another night with sleep right through!!

Another neice!!

Yep Dave's brother Pete is the proud Dad of Anica born this morning!! Looking forward to meeting her at some time in the future :)
Allison came to visit today with 2 day care kids. Was a nice way to make the day go quicker!! Thanks Allison.
Tomorrow morning Dave leaves on a 7am flight to Sydney for 2 nights :( Hoping Thursday comes quick :)

Hot Hot Hot

Don't know what temperature it is right now but just after 5.30pm it was still 34.2 degrees outside ICKY!
Ok off the weather front for now... last night I went to Allison's for a scrap. Lots of fun!! Completed this layout of Lucy. Photos taken yesterday too!


This afternoon Dave, what a lovely man he is, disappeared out into the heat for a while and set up the plastic pool for us girls. Fun was had by all!

four seasons...

Well almost! No snow but we had 33 (which was 7 above the predicted 26), a few minutes ago it started to thunder and now it is raining so heavy it sounds like hail!! Adding some excitement to the day!!
Both girls enjoyed their day at school again today but are glad it's the weekend and no school tomorrow!!
Not much else to share so enjoy your weekend everyone :)

Back to school sooks

and all from me!! I really didn't want them going back to school today, but it's one of those things that, as a Mum, you have to let them go. But let them I did and by cripes it was hard, poor Dave got to see me cry as he was walking out the door to work, so the girls didn't see, and thankfully both girls had good days, well up till now lol. Jessica has gone to bed in tears and doesn't want to go again tomorrow. By the morning that should have changed :)
So today we dropped Megan and Jessica off at school and headed to Kmart. Went to see if I could find some sort of storage for Megan's room (her room is a huge mess and she needs somewhere to hide it all!). Anyway didn't find anything but did pick up this! Was reduced, because there are bits missing, from $80 to $12! Doesn't matter about the missing bits our girls LOVE IT!! From there we went to Dave's work and I had a coffee and Elizabeth and Lucy something to eat. That was lovely and I was happy that we could do that!! Came home and Elizabeth and Lucy played all day with our new purchase, as did the other 2 when they got home.
Have to share, when we got to school this afternoon Elizabeth, out of the blue, asked "Does God have a middle name?"...

Oh, it's nice to sit down!!

What a busy, runaround day its been! First stop was the fruit and veg shop, petrol station, school to pay school fees, home for a coffee and pick up Megan (did I mention Dave took today off so he could stay home with the other 3 girls while I took Megan to the hospital?? What a gem!), hospital, shoe shop to Megan some new sneakers for school, Subway for lunch (Megan hadn't had it before and nagged me enough to go), back to the van, went to video shop, who had sale on, and got Dave a copy of Malcolm on DVD (great Movie), butcher, baker (no candlesticks thanks) home again, woke Lucy, back in the van, supermarket for the grocery shopping, home again, bbq for a special back to school tea, kids in bath, kids in pjs, kids in bed, did you hear my feet sigh??!!
So there you have it my day thus far!!
Hope its been a lovely valentines day for everyone :) A big hug if it hasn't :)
Ok the Dr said what I thought he would, that he didn't know what was causing the belly aches and it's probably one of those things. But we have to take a stool sample and head on back to see him in 6 months. so thats what we will do, yay me gets to go a poo scooping ;)
Our BBQ back to school tea was yummy although far too much food! Photos below and you get to see that they had jelly in a cone for pudding :) So yes it's back to school tomorrow, Grade 2 for Megan and Prep for Jessica. They are both looking forward to going back, I'm not lol I have loved having them home.

Off to a good start

with 8 people leaving comments to say they participated in the dare and over 50 site visits I think Dare To Be Nice has started off just right! I visited some of the blogs where comments of niceness were left and hoping to see more visitors to the Dare To Be Nice blog. Only time will tell I spose!
Today, for us, was spent around home. The girls entertaining themselves, each other or being entertained!
Tomorrow I have to go pay the school fees, school starts Thursday and that was the only day the office was open and I didn't have something else on. Also have to take Megan back to the hospital for a follow up on her belly aches. Have a feeling he is going to say he can't do anything else and we will have to wait it out and see what happens. Will up date you soon, may not be tomorrow night as I have the grocery shopping to do.

A concept is born

and as usual I thought of it in the shower!!!
I heard that today was National Compliment Day and started thinking about that and the movie 'Pay It Forward'. So today Dare To Be Nice was born! Find the link on my side bar or click here and head on over for a look and PLEASE BE DARED! Email the link to anyone and everyone, add it to your own blog, spread the word and get on being nice! There will be prizes given away at random so it might be worth a go and, more importantly, you might make someones day a little nicer too!
Anyway back to our day... Public holiday here so YAY Dave had the day off. He was such a wonderful man, started the day with pancakes for us girls and ended it with golden syrup dumplings!! YUMMO to both!
Today the mail delivery man didn't have the day off he arrived with a box full of shampoo and conditioner samples. I have been picked to do some testing for the new word-of-mouth opinion panel site Yooster. I was surprised that I was picked, thought there would be no chance of ever being picked lol, and totally surprised with the pack, it contained 2 200mL bottles of shampoo/conditioner and 30 sample packs to give to family and friends so they can try it too! A duck walks into a store and asks the clerk if she has any grapes.

The clerk says no and the duck walks out of the store.

Five minutes later the duck comes in again and asks the same question.

The clerk says, "No, I don't have any grapes and if you come in again and ask
the same question I'll nail your feet to the ground!" The duck walks out of the store.

Five minutes later the duck walks into the store again and asks the clerk if she has any nails. The clerk says no and the duck says, "Okay then, do you have any grapes?"



Oh and just watching the cricket and have to say Glenn McGrath you are a legend! So glad that final ball was a catch and the grin on his face was worth the grumpys from Friday's game!! GO GLENN!

Gardening and partying!

This morning we spent tidying, pruning and taking rubbish from the garden to the tip. The apricot, cherry and greengage trees all had haircuts as did the lavender bush (probably too much off that one but oh well it grows back!!).
This afternoon we went to Kanina's place for Mikalya's 7th birthday. It was fancy dress. Dave dressed up as a holey man, he wore a t-shirt with a hole in the armpit... I didn't dress up either but would have an answer if asked, the old woman who lived in a shoe!!!! Photos below of the girls, Lucy was a Princess (Pishes is how she said it), Elizabeth choose her outfit from the dressups and went as a Red Witch and declared she was going to cook everyone in soup, Jessica was a fairy and Megan went as Mary had a little lamb.









I started a layout of Jessica last night, was hoping to finish it off today, so will share that tomorrow night :)

My baby is home and a spot of shopping

Yay Dave is home! Can you tell I am happy lol!!?? I AM I AM!

Have been meaning to take (and share) a photo of this magnet I whipped up to remind me of 'my word for my year'. Happy with how it turned out, and that it was sooooo easy to make!


This morning we went to Target. We ended up returning the shelves we got for Megan, that was missing an L from LOVE, and so this morning Megan spent that and the $10 she got from Granny and Grandpa. She bought a very funky green watch and some Littlest Pet Shop toys (in a pack where you pay for 1 get another free). She was a happy lil' vegimite indeed!! Tonight she declared that she is getting old!! Poor little old lady lol

I have been meaning to write this for sometime but always remembered after I was here. I have been getting Ali Edwards newsletter for sometime and with the New Year she mentioned that each year she chooses a word, "a word that I can focus on, mediate on, and reflect upon as I go about my daily life.". She went on to challenge readers to find a word for their own year. Anyway I did and finally I have remembered to share it! My word is RELISH For me it means a condiment, something that adds flavour and spice to something ordinary but also meaning to live in the moment, capture it, taste it, RELISH IT. So that is what I am hoping to do. Enjoy my life for what it is and add a little spice to the things that might be everyday. But I also want to remember the word for those around me, to add some relish to their lives so they can relish it too! So now I pass on the challenge to you, what is your word for 2007? what is one word that you want to highlight for this year ahead??

Play day and not much else

lots of playing been had today. This morning Jessica and Megan took over the lounge room and built a city for their Barbies. I didn't hear from them until we invaded at lunchtime. Elizabeth, Lucy and I took over the sunroom and played tea parties etc until it was time for our invasion!! After lunch we did much of the same while Lucy slept and then we went outside for a bit.
Dave's away, up North, tomorrow night, so hoping to keep busy tomorrow too :)
Hope its been a nice start to the week for everyone and yay we are on the homestretch to the weekend (a long one here in Tasmania!).

My Baby is now 8!!

Hard to believe that 8 years ago at 6 in the morning Little Megan was born! Can still remember everything with detail!! My she has grown, as they do, 2cm in the last year. And doing a thousand times better than what we ever expected 8 years ago!!! Our little girl is turning into a little lady before us and everyday we are amazed at what she has learnt, what she can do and getting glimpses of what she may become is scary but very exciting! We know she will be a confident person but hoping she has the self confidence is the prayer point! Where she rushes in you just hope she takes the time to enjoy the moment, while the dust settles, rather than leaving the dust behind her. We hope she takes the time to enjoy what others have to say rather than just leaving them with burning ears. We admire her character and strength and hopes that she learns to admire it too!
Anyway here are some photos of the little lady enjoying this one day in her 8 years!



Opening presents in the morning, which started a little after 6am with Jessica waking Megan and Lucy.


Presents. Money from Great Grandparents, a volcano from Grandma and Grandpa, from us she got chocolate, scrapbooking foam stickers, a stuff teddy pack and some shelving that is meant to spell LOVE but on opening we are missing the L so we will have to take that back. Grrr I told Megan we might not buy her presents again after this and the karaoke machine at Christmas (had to return that too!!!). She just laughed as if to say AS IF MUM!!! Mum and Dad also gave her a book, a hair thing and some kidsafe scissors.


Talking to Grandma and Grandpa on the phone HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GRANDPA TOO!! They were first cab off the rank, followed by Poppy and Mashir (and Elizabeth who sang and 'sounded cute'), Granny and Grandpa and then Allison. She loved the calls, thanks everyone!

The cake, she cut right to the bottom just so she could kiss the boys. She reckons if you touch the bottom you have to kiss all the boys, not that Daddy and Poppy minded!! Me, I say if you touch the bottom you get green babys. Yet to see that one work though!!

Not quite a manic monday!!

Allison and 4 kids came to visit today. They all played together marvellously and I think it was probably the best time we have had with them all at our place???!!! Really nice :) Thanks Allison!
Last night I made some cards for Mum, using some of the stamps I got yesterday. Here's just a sample:



Tomorrow Megan turns 8 and its all we have heard about today! She is, naturally, VERY excited about her birthday! Mum and Dad are coming, with Elizabeth, and we are having KFC for tea, as requested by the not-yet birthday girl! Hoping to have photos to share tomorrow night!

Still only 3/4 home!

Picked up Jessica and dropped Elizabeth off for her turn at Poppy's house! We had lunch there too, which was nice. Home for not much but Dave mowed the lawns and we have both come in now after doing a little weeding.
This morning, left home not long after 9am, I went to the Craft clearance sale. I think they had less stuff than last year but I did buy a lot of stamps, so will have to make lots of cards now! Bargain prices so happy happy joy joy!

Bargains, baking and a bit of nothing

This morning we went to Target. Picked up a few things from their already reduced bin and then added another 15% off for their sale, got to be happy with that!
Dave, and helper Elizabeth, made Queen Pudding for dessert and we had a lovely roast beef tea.
The rest of the day was filled with not much. Watched Chicken Little, a little beach cricket and generally mucked about!
Tomorrow I am off to the Craft Clearance Sale and then we are picking Jessica up.

Yay it's Friday

and I keep saying that!!!
Well, Davie Babes is on the plane home, another hour and he SHOULD be back on Tassie soil.
We picked Megan up today and left Jessica for her turn at Poppy's house. We had lunch there before going to Allison's for a while. Before home and here we are :)
Hey want to hear something funny?? Of course you do lol well Elizabeth got a touch of sunburn today... where, did I hear you ask, well lets just say her plumber look will be mighty tanned!!! For those who know our kids it is no surprise, all of them, no matter what pants they wear, have an issue with a certain exposure of a certain body ummm crack...... Elizabeth is a winner when it comes to being asked to pull her pants up!! Why is it that kids clothes are not made for kids without hips??!!

Another quick post

Just to say today we went to visit Bron. Was lovely to catch up with her again, have lunch, watch the girls play and natter!
Tomorrow we are going to go pick Megan up and Dave is leaving before 5am for a flight to Sydney, he'll be back sometime between 7 and 8pm. Think it's going to be a long day for us all :)
