Scanning the past

Yep that is another good thing about our new printer... it has a scanner so today I took a little time, which turned into a lot as the darn thing had to do an update lol, and scanned some photos of Dave and then 1 of me. As you can see they aren't recent photos lol

Dave at 2 or 3 months

Dave at 6 or 7 months

and Dave at 13 months

Me at 3 :)

I don't have any photos of me before 3 and very few of me at all as a kid, hope to get some of Mum but I know there aren't many. Anyway now that I have these scanned and printed I am off to scrap them :)

Hope your weekend was a wonderful one, the girls have a student free day tomorrow. Moving schools we found out that our old school DID have too many student free days. We only have 2 this year instead of the half dozen plus that we had previously!!

Marg thank you so much for leaving a comment, I was only thinking of you the other day. Glad you found me and hope to see you again!! If you want to email me, see the linky thing on the side, please do as I didn't get an email address with your comment and would love to hear from you :)

PS if your interested go check out Lusi's blog as she is having an amazing RAK giveaway, and while your there see her amazing creations ;)

Lucy loves custard!

She truly does!!!
The other day she, out of the blue, asked me how you make custard. Since then she has asked and asked about custard and when Dave asked her what she wanted for pudding, it was custard. Well tonight she got her wish, she helped Daddy and they made custard to have with the apple pie Dave made!!

Been a busy few days, Elizabeth had her 4 year old immunisation on Thursday. I just hadn't made an appointment till now and seeing as she is 5 next week I thought I better get on to it!! It turns out our GP had moved, the practice had split with Dr's going to 2 surgeries. I tried to get in to the one that was closer to us but their books were full. So we now have to travel 15-20 minutes to our GP. I think they closed, the practice we used to go to, about 6 months ago, shows how often we have had to go to the doctor!!

As a treat Lucy, Elizabeth and I went to McDonald's for lunch, is right next door to the Dr, and then we went in to town. Dave met us in there so he could carry our new printer! So yep I now have a printer again and was going to make full use of it last night but had no paper, rectified that today ;)

Friday was ANZAC day here in Australia. Remembering the wonderful people who have fought for our country. This year Megan didn't want to go in the march, as apart of her Guide group, so it was a nice day at home.

Today Megan had soccer, Dave did too but because he was coaching Megan's team he decided to forgo his game again. She played well but I think she found it harder than last week but she has a cold so that wouldn't help!!

Over the last couple of days I have created:

I used the ladybug stamp from Lusi Austin's You Rock My World stamp pack, that I recently purchased from Funk Stree Designs. I also got the It's a Date pack which I used om this altered kids board book I made.

Inspired by the latest One Little Word challenge, the word grow, I created these, they are different sizes, the smaller is for the wall near the scrap table.

The amazingly talented Lisa has awarded me an Arte Y Pico award

So I have to pass it on to 5 bloggers who creatively inspire me, so my list

1. Danielle Quarmby I love the amazing kits she puts together at Q-tea and her wonderful creations

2. Bek Vavic she inspires the teacher in me, to want to share what I do with others, one day I hope to do this.

3. Janine Kaye, just visiting her blog makes me want to scrap! I am thankful for the friend I have found through scrapping.

4. Kim Archer makes me want to be more creative. One day I hope to take one of her amazing online classes!!

5. Lusi Austin another friend who I am thankful to have met through scrapbooking. Her work amazes and inspired me.

I love it when blogging and, more so, scrapbooking becomes more than just paper and glue. When it becomes about people forging friendships and I love that each of these 5 woman have inspired me in so many ways and that there are so many like minded people who also inspire me to be better at what I do and to keep on creating and leaving a little of myself as I go. So my list of 5 is just a small representation of those that inspire me.

I got chills

and their multiplying......

Ok now I have that song out of my head... nope it's still there...

Anyway getting out of my head and back to my blog...

Last night, seeing as there wasn't anything on telly for awhile, I scrapped my Scrap Mojo challenge page. You had to use one of the song titles from the movie Juno as your title and be inspired by one of the links they had on the mojo blog about Juno. So this is what I created :)

Journaling:
"On this subject of sleep, I think I need to talk awhile with you. When you were born you spent your first week in intensive care, under the glare of hospital lights. When we finally took you home you found it difficult to adjust to the night & day thing. To get you to sleep I would hold you, rock you and sing to you. As you got a little bigger I would put you in our bed & lay with you so you could sleep, I would have to hold your arms and face away from you though. When you were 18 months you decided sleep was not for you and I would get screamed at when I would put you to bed, was horrible. It wasn't till you were about 3 that you would stay in bed at night and we didn't have to sit outside your door. From about 5 you would say you didn't sleep and even now, at 9, you have a terrible time staying in bed long enough to go straight to sleep. I hope, one day, you find a way to relax and see how wonderful it is to... sleep."
Those that know Megan well know about the ummm issues we have with sleep lol
Speaking of sleep my two little at home girls had a sleep for me today. I just had to snap a photo just to remind myself that it does happen sometimes!!!

I don't think Elizabeth was truly asleep as she came out a few minutes after me and she didn't have that slept look lol
I also made this today, is for the first challenge over at Scrapstars. The challenge is to scrap the music of your life and include an album cover. So I snaffled up the Sanity catalogue, ripped out some album piccys and glued them on the cover.

The album is actually 6 pages and all of them with writing, hence only one photo and not all of them!! I won't rewrite the journaling as it is long, Dave read it and said "I didn't realise that I was going to read an essay". But the basics of it is that there are songs that have had the weird timing of being on the radio or in shops etc when life impacting things have happened. I talk about how I love all types of music.
I had fun with my hole punch, as you can see lol. Love that each page has holes in different spots and you can see through a little.
On the challenge front, there is a new one starting up called Aussie Scrap Music Blog. Looking forward to see what they have to offer as I think it's a brilliant idea!!!

Lucy's play date

today Lucy had her first play date. There is a boy in Elizabeth's class who has a younger sister and baby brother and the Mum asked if we wanted to go visit so the girls could play together. They had fun, Lucy loved that they had a backyard to run around in, a trampoline, a swing AND a sandpit!! Heaven for Lucy lol

I scrapped this page in spurts today.

I challenged myself with this page. To used only scraps, to use a paint with a colour that wasn't in the photos and to use up some of the things I had on my scrap desk.

We heard today that Dave's step-dads father passed away this morning. He had been sick for a long while and we are thinking of his family this week as they prepare for the funeral and as they work through this loss.

2 down...

Mum came this afternoon and now Lucy and Elizabeth are at 'Poppy's house' for the weekend.

Dave and I took Megan and Jessica to McDonald's for a burger and Wendy's for icecream, won't say they enjoyed it because that is too obvious lol

This morning, on our way home from school drop off, Elizabeth, Lucy and I called in and had a coffee with Dave (that is Elizabeth and Lucy watched us drink our coffee but Dave did buy them a little chocolate). Then we came home to put the washing on the line, the sun shone again today so we made the most of it.

In amongst all that I did some creating...

I found these at spotlight last weekend

They are 7x8cm and I've wanted some for a while. So over the day I painted layers on each and created these

They haven't turned out as I wanted but I have a couple more packs to play with :) I don't think they are too bad, being it my 2nd time to create a canvas. Wondering if I should do the Etsy thing as I have a few other things in my head.. time will tell ;)

We went early to school, as they had a school assembly. Was nice to see all the kids together in one spot. Jessica's class showed their work about garden creatures. Megan was meant to play recorder but that didn't happen.

After we got home and the washing was in I felt the urge to do a layout so grabbed some scraps and this came together in minutes :)

Megan has soccer tomorrow. Dave was meant to have a game to but it is in Launcetson (2.5hr drive North of here) but isn't going because of his coaching commitments to Megan's team. Jessica and I will be Orange girls at half time :)

Hope your weekend is super :)

Games...

Elizabeth came home yesterday with an egg carton that she had painted in Kindergarten.

Today she showed me the game that she had invented, I am assuming she invented it and it wasn't something her relief teacher showed her (she had a relief teacher this week as her regular one had hurt her leg and was on crutches).

You take the painted egg carton

some gum nuts

and you have to throw them into the egg carton and try to get the yellow spot.

I thought it was a rather clever game invention ;) it was a lot harder than it sounded!

We had fun outside in the sunshine today :)

Grandma rang to say she was home, yay. She now has physio to get her hips and legs working again :)

Dave went back into work last night, which is why I blogged last night, while Megan was at Guides and tonight he is at soccer training.

Today I scrapped this page about Megan's first soccer game.

Half the week gone

so we are now on the run to the weekend :)

This week Megan came home with her Student Council badge

She had a grin on her face when she showed me, but grins and cameras are something Megan think don't go together lol

Today, amongst the usual run around and visits to the fruitshop, petrol station and library, I scrapped these two pages.

Elizabeth helped me with this one, by doing some writing.

The lovely Sandra awarded me this

Thanks Sandra :)

Here are the rules:

1. You have to nominate 5 blogs.

2. Each of the blogs must have a purpose!

3. The nominated blogs must make a link back to this page!

4. The logo from the award must be put on their blog and it must link back to this blog.

So I would like to pass this on to Karen Lusi Mel M

what I love about my job...

not that I call it a job but what I love is spending time with our girls. Not doing anything just being. I don't like it when we are busy and I know I don't cope well with the busy-ness but I have to cope so I do. So today I took some photos of Lucy and Elizabeth, being that they are the only ones home for me to take photos of lol, to remind me of the things that matter and the things that make me happy.

Lucy loves to play in the playground before Elizabeth's kinder has finished. In fact Lucy just loves to be active lol

Elizabeth on the other hand likes to be still

They both had sleeps for me today (OH MY!) and while they slept I finished off the housework and then scrapped this for the Scrapping the Music challenge, the song 'Love like this'.

Sometimes we just need to see the good things in life to realise that things aren't always as bad as we think they are. Sometimes I need to see that, even with a busy day, that the small things, that I might miss in my busy day, are worth holding on to and those small things will get me through to tomorrow. Those small things are gifts.
