I Want To Eat A Chocolate Santa

This morning we started the ‘real’ countdown to Christmas
Lucy got to eat the very first chocolate from our advent calendar @ 25 sleeps to go :)

100_8832com

But first, back to 26 sleeps to go…
When we got up on Sunday morning
Poor Elizabeth awoke to find that her other ear had ‘popped’ through the night
We spent the day around home, mopping up her ear as it leaked
Jessica declared she was having a pajama day, so she did
She spent the day rugged up on a beanbag watching telly and in the afternoon I went to pick up Megan from her camp
She was a little wet but had a fabulous time
She got to change a car tyre and a bike tyre BIG NEWS for her lol
She got to make bush donuts, a jam sandwich that is fried and then sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar BIGGER NEWS lol
She was a little tired but won’t admit to that :)

The day four challenge, for the 12 days of Christmas, at Scrapz.biz, was to make a layout about someone's Christmas wish list
So I made this page of Lucy :)

 100_8836

I did some masking with Glimmer Mist and Shimmerz Spritz, added some depth with some kinderglitz (Glitter glue/paint) and splashed around some Tim Holtz distress crackle paint

100_8839

I made the flower with a cup cake paper, pipe cleaner and a Such Sweet Tierney button, that I also kinderglitz-ed

100_8838

The journaling

100_8837

I also played with my Etsy purchases to make this page

100_8842

Used one of the doilies and one of the buttons
Added some doodled and scalloped punched yellow cardstock, that I had stitched onto a circle punched piece of corrugated cardboard which I edged with some more crackle paint

100_8845

Ignore the smudge, but do you see the journaling??

100_8851

London sent me some buttons a while ago and added 2 tea bags to the package
I used the tea bag wrapper on this page

100_8848

Because it was way too cool to throw away

100_8852

and it still smells YUM!
Elizabeth had another day off school today
I spent the day building cubby houses, that Lucy would tear down and that Elizabeth would sit in and play
Elizabeth’s ears seem to have stopped umm leaking so it’s back to school for her tomorrow
Which she is already stressing about so it’s going to be an interesting morning :)

I Want A Snowman In My Kitchen

100_8804

Today Dave started putting up the Christmas lights
This fellow was near the hotplates for a while
He is now residing in the bathroom
Dave does things like that

Today it’s rained most of the day
Which is good for the garden
But if you were camping
In a tent
It wouldn’t be so good
And guess what Megan is doing this weekend??!!!

100_8794com

Yep
And in tents

100_8797com

Looking forward to the stories she will tell us when we pick her up tomorrow :)

Yesterday was a long day
With Lucy sick and on the couch all day and then I had Elizabeth to the Doctor with a perforated eardrum
So she is back on antibiotics, sigh :)
Thankful that Dave was able to get Megan and Jessica from school :)
Also yesterday I received these yummies that I purchase from Lilredrocket on Etsy

100_8790

I bought two packs, the 5 on the left are “It’s a Mixed Bag” and the 5 on the right are “Brights Mix”

and as her very first customer she also sent me these, from Sweetvintage78 and she didn’t even know I had been admiring Jodi’s doilies for a long time!!!

100_8792

Thanks Michelle, fabulous transaction :)
**ETA** I just spied that Michelle has a giveaway, for some of her gorgeous buttons
Go here to win, it’s open till Tuesday 8th Dec

Today we had to go to the supermarket so we decided to stop in to see Santa and get Lucy used to the idea of seeing him
She still freaks out a little and won’t go alone AND won’t go near him
So we are slowly acclimatizing her to the idea :)
They had big signs up, for the first time, saying you couldn’t video or take photos of your kids with Santa
Think that’s sad, I get it, but I think it’s sad because a posed picture with Santa only tells part of the story and the shots I wanted to take today were going to be of Lucy and what it takes for her to see Santa, rather than the whole knee sitting photo
Oh well :)
While we were out Dave shouted us girls to a coffee/minicino
Elizabeth and Lucy had a caramel flavoured one, with chocolate on top
Jessica opted for Strawberry with multi sprinkles on top
Very festive :)

100_8807com

They were each given some reindeer antlers from Santa and wore them while they drank

100_8809com

except Jessica, think she was thinking she was too old
Elizabeth’s kept falling off, because of her pig tails
So I wore it
Upside down
and then back the front
Think that made Jessica think I was too old to be doing stuff like that
But I do do things like that
Just ask anyone who knows me
and they will just shake their head and agree :)

We put up our advent calendar last weekend

100_8814

and today I got some smiles when I added the chocolate Santas
Ready for Tuesday :) :)

100_8815

In other Christmas type things I finished off Dave’s Mum’s present yesterday
You can go look, but Grandma you can’t!!!
and I will know if you do!!
So anyone who wants to look at what I made her you can see it by clicking on Grandma’s Christmas Present
But if you are Grandma don’t you dare click that link or I will know and you will be in trouble
BIG TROUBLE
You hear me Grandma??
BIG TROUBLE!!!
But Grandma you can keep looking at the other things I made today :)

The day 2 challenge, for the 12 Days of Christmas challenge, at Scrapz.biz was to “find something to recycle and use as packing for a Christmas gift”
So I used the packaging from the Christmas stocking, that the girls got at Dave’s work BBQ, that was filled with chocolate
Filled it with lollipops and stitched it closed with some red ric rac

100_8821com

easy :)
And while I was reusing packaging etc
I made this journal

100_8825com

filled it with other scrap papers, including the paper from some business envelopes

100_8826

and I think I will wrap it up and put it under the tree for Megan
I think

and I think that is everything :)
and I think I'm out of here :)

Ciao

I Want A Short Commercial Break :)

Have 2 sick girls at home right now

Fun Fun :)

I Want To Grow Old With You

100_8707

Aren’t these Such Sweet Tierney buttons the coolest thing to spruce up candy canes???
Super easy to do, just a piece of thread looped through the button and around the candy cane, love easy and love easy when it looks this good :)

100_8710

and yum ;)

100_8711

Over at Scrapz.biz they are hosting

The_Scrapper_of_OZ3

The first challenge was to make some sweet gift boxes, come join the challenges and create some cool stuff for Christmas :)

100_8748

Super easy and very cool, so I made 4
This one I topped with another Such Sweet Tierney button and it was the perfect size for another project I have been working on so this one is already full and awaiting deliver for Christmas ;)

100_8750

This one

100_8752

I used a star and glimmer mist for some masking

100_8751

this one I just sprayed green glimmer mist over the lid

100_8754

and this one I topped with a button that I had added a snow flake sticker to

100_8755

Pulled out some American Crafts Christmas rubons, that I had got last year, and made some simple tags

100_8756

and while I was in the crafty zone I scrapped this page that had been brewing in my head :)

100_8759

She was home from school again today
We tried, but when we got there she started to cry and said her belly hurts, which is part of the flu she has, so rather than make it hard on her we came home
Glad she was home because her temp went up again through the day, poor tyke

Used a piece of Basic Grey doily paper as a mask, some Cosmo Cricket paper and chipboard and my trusty typewriter, love :)

100_8760

The journaling

100_8761

Oh and another project that’s in the wings
Lucy and I collected some of these tiny pinecones, that probably aren’t pine but I just love pinecones…, while we were at the Gardens last week, hence the sultana box because that’s what we collected them into
I have painted them with some Tim Holtz distress crackle paint

100_8767

Hopefully the idea I have in my head will turn out so I can show you some more :)
Been a warm day again today, hoping for the cool change they promised
Had my H1N1 vaccination today
I was brave and didn't cry
Elizabeth and Lucy got the lollipops
Not sure how that works, I missed out lol

Today Dave came home via the hospital
He had his stitches removed
So again there is a photo, read on if your ok with scars etc :)
If not, thanks for stopping by :)

I Wanted To Eat The First Raspberry Of The Season

But the darn birds beat me to it!

100_8703com

Yesterday Lucy and I spent the day with Jessica’s class here, having fun playing with all sorts of wonderful Science-y stuffs, before we headed to a park for a play

100_8677

Today has been a completely different day and couldn't get much FULLER!
Elizabeth has been home, running a temperature ranging from 38-39.5
So we had a trip to the doctor, after we picked up the other girls from school
The doctor thinks she has a viral infection as well as a hay fever/allergy which has caused her nose/ears to be full of fluid and not draining away, so we are trying some antihistamines and hope to see an improvement soon and hoping to break this fever with panadol
Dave’s away tonight so I had to do the running around for Jessica’s guides, so we dropped her off after the doctors, because we were late getting into the Dr, then off to get Elizabeth’s spray and then home for a quick dinner and then back to get Jessica
Think we are all tired ;)
Made this quick page today
Of Lucy
We got a letter today, telling us her Kindergarten days for next year
So that’s what the page is about :)

100_8724

Used KI and October Afternoon pattern paper and covered it with some Tim Holtz Distress Crackle paint
Added some Smiggle alpha stickers and some doodling

100_8729

100_8728

Journaling

100_8725

and now I see I wrote YOUR, below, instead of YOU’RE…

100_8726

off to add an e and wonder what tomorrow will bring my way :)

I Want To Teach The World To Sing

and if they were all singing the same song it would help :)
As promised here is the technique I used to make the lettering on my ‘Sunshine’ layout from 2 posts ago :)
I used Scenic Route chipboard lettering

100_8597

For this example I am just using some scrap white copy paper, for the layout I did this technique right onto the page, over my photo, pattern paper and ribbon
I then just painted the negative space of the letter I required, in this case it was an ‘n’

 100_8599

making sure the paint covered the whole area

100_8601

Once it was dry I went around the outline with my black sharpie pen, if you were to trace the chipboard shape, rather than freehand, the area would be too narrow so it’s better to removed the chipboard and outline the shape freehand

100_8604

I then used an oval shape stamp and some ink

100_8608

and stamped the shapes randomly on top of the paint,

 100_8609

and then I covered the inked area with embossing powder

100_8610

before applying heat to melt and set the dots

 100_8613

I used Hero Arts ink, first time for this technique, and have learnt that the ink doesn’t ‘stick’ to the paint so some parts of the circles have lifted

100_8617

I then cut around the letter and used it on a layout, turning the ‘n’ into a ‘u’ :)

100_8665

The journaling

100_8668

I pulled apart a Prima flower, sprayed with a little Glimmer Mist, a button from Such Sweet Tierney for the flower centre and added some Smiggle alpha stickers

100_8670

Some Basic Grey paper and stickers and flicked about some paint, just because I could ;)

100_8673

Will leave you with how I spent some of my day

100_8676com

Having fun with some of the toys the girls have ‘re-found’ in our clean up :) :)
