Jessica’s birthday is still a week away
But last night we ate cake
Lots of cream on that cake
Just how she likes it
Next week we will celebrate again
Guaranteed there will be more cake
And lots more cream!
Oh to be almost 9 ;) :)
PS don’t ask about the flamingo… Mum had that for the cake topper and we don’t argue with my Mum :)

A Little Colour Inspiration
May’s Colour Focus Challenge, found here, for Banana Frog was to use this
as inspiration
So I made this page
Using the It's All About Flourishes, It's All About Elegance and Pharmacy sets of stamps
Journaling that had been wrapped up safe in my head since last year
I stamped using black ink and then heat embossed with some red zing from American Crafts
Snuck in some Hambly and my oh-so-yummy bakers twine
adore this border stamp, delish-on-a-stick!
mmmmmmmmmm

Needing A Kick Start
I’ve found that when I stop scrapping it’s hard to start again
This page has been sitting on my table taunting me
It certainly didn’t turn out as it originally began and it took me a long time to get it finished
I’m not sure if I like it at all
But there are aspects of it that I do like
Like the white painted circles that are outlined with a black sharpie pen
like this one the most because it’s lift a little
Love the blue paper, it was in “The Greatest Show On Earth” kit from QTea
Love how the black looks on it
Love the roller number stamp from Glitz (haven’t used it much)
Love the outlined photo
Love the white journaling on the photo (LOVE that it didn’t smudge!!)
and love the little bits of music paper
So will take the bits I do like and hope they show up on another page one day
And hopefully finishing this page will kick start some new pages, when there is time again!!

A Sick Day Storybook
This is how Lucy spent her sick day
Rugged up on the couch
Writing and illustrating her “My Day At Home Book”
It also has the subtitle of My Day On The Couch
It is full of things you do when you are sick
Like have medicine, keep warm, eat soft food
And things you don’t do when you are sick
Like share drinks, go outside etc
Oh and one of the most important things you do when you are sick…
Have lots of cuddles :)
She wrote most of the book, with help for spelling
And did all the drawings
It took most of the day
But she loved it
The book is now away so it stays safe for her to look back on through the years to come :)
Medicine is almost finished now and she is feeling much better :)

My Little Blue Tongue
The Marks Paper Co. Spring kit is out and called “August”
You can purchase it here
Stacy has posted the hybrid page I created here so I can now share it with you too :)
a really quick and easy way to add dimension to your page is just to cover some foam dots with pattern paper
Then cut the paper down to the circle shape and ink around the edges
easy :)
Pulled out the trusty blue typewriter for the journaling, love it! Mistakes and all ;)
One of my favourite photos on one of my favourite layouts :)

Calico Cards
I did a project post over at Banana Frog
You can read all about it here
I made 3 cards for the post
The first 2 cards have been given away already, now to wait for someone to have a baby boy so I can give the last one away ;)

For The Love Of Skype
So glad that the internet has made it possible to communicate with others
Made the world seem smaller
Makes it a little easier when Dave is away
Means we can talk to him for a lot longer than when he calls on the mobile
I could kiss the person who invented Skype :)

Tonsillitis Is No Fun
Especially when you temperature is up
Especially when you are going to have your first “Sick Day” and miss Kinder
Especially when you are missing your Daddy
Just as well lemonade icypoles make life a little less icky
Now to wait for the medicine to work :)
Turn That Frown Upside Down
When life gets busy I just love to throw in something that will add a giggle to my day, a smile to brighten someone else’s or just something so idiotic you can’t help but stop and laugh :)
My 2nd page for QTea, using “The Greatest Show On Earth” kit, is just a reminder of one of those times and a note to remember to do it more :)
Some close ups for your entertainment ;)
Covered some buttons
and drew some wonky lines for the journaling :)

RRRRRecyclin’
I love to visit our local recycle shop
I love it more when I find cool things
A recent visit was one of those trips and I will share, over time, some of the cool things I found
AND how I reuse them
The first thing I reused, from this recent visit, was these cool trays
no idea what they were previously used for, there were 4 or 5 of them for sale
But I found that they were ideal for this
previously my ribbon had been stuffed in a snap lock bag and then stuffed in a wooden box
now they look like this
an ORGANISED sea of colour :)
A Lion In My Pocket
Well it won’t really fit in my pocket…
L was the ‘letter of the week’ at Kindergarten
Lion masks are good for L :)
Lucy liked L week :)

Campfire Enrollment
Another thing that has happened in the last week is that Megan was enrolled in the “bigger'” guide group
They had the enrollment ceremony around a campfire
Made me wish for a better camera so I could better capture the moment
But I do like the fire shot :)
I Don’t Like Naggers
But when this one nags me to scrap
Well, I usually cave at some point
I think it’s funny
She gets time to scrap
I get time to do the washing
Sigh
Something just isn’t right with that equation lol
I am looking forward to when things slow down
When I don’t have to schedule my blog posts and when I can stop and scrap too :)

Don’t You Just Love Cardboard Boxes??
I know I do :)
This is what happened while we were at Mum and Dad’s for our ‘pre-Mothers day’ lunch
Dave gave this previously a cubby house, previously packaging new life
I don’t know how many trips he made but he pulled all 6 of the girls down the hill and it wasn’t at a slow pace
They LOVED IT!!!!!
They would each have a turn, 2 at a time, and those that weren’t on the cardboard would run down the hill after them
I love Elizabeth’s face in the top photo
She was grinning from ear to ear as she looked back at everyone
And I love this shot of Megan sliding off at the end
I’ve Been Scrapping At School
I have!
Megan’s teacher approached me about teaching the kids in his class how to scrapbook
He wanted them to cover a small exercise book and then fill it with different things they do throughout the year
Things that they might appreciate looking back on in the future
Things that they might want to write down to look back on in the future
So I said yes, of course
I was a little surprised when he introduced me as “a world renowned scrapbooker, with her own website, who has come to show us some tricks of the trade”…
I didn’t have to wonder long as to who had filled him up with unsubstantiated stories, although a blog is a website, right?? lol
But I did spend the day showing them different things and having fun
We played with paper, glue and paint and I when I saw their books again the following week they looked amazing!
Hoping to get back into Megan’s classroom soon so I can show them some more '”tricks of the trade” :)
I think I might now have the label of “the crafty lady” amongst the staff though, because Jessica’s teacher has asked me to come and help her make some 3D flowers next term. Seems the “world renowned” rumor went beyond the classroom walls!
Oh well, I can only take little steps in my world domination and get one class scrapping at a time hehehe

Pink Day
Lucy thinks it should be pink day everyday but was happy when it was pink day at school
It’s a free dress day where you wear pink
Everyone who wore pink brought along something for the mothers day stall
I had a lovely mother’s day
Was given some chocolates, some ‘vouchers’ for things like cleaning bedrooms etc, lots of handmade goodness :)
The Greatest Show On Earth
is the name of QTea’s kit for May
I loved all the little bits in the kit and was thankful for the chance to sit and create something
And a layout for Elizabeth seemed very fitting
Here are some close ups
But you can read more about it with my post on the QTea blog

As Seen In ScrapBook Inspirations Idea Book
I was thrilled to finally have this in my not-so-hot little hands (it is almost winter here so my hands are always cold)
I even made the front cover!!
And I kid you not, the magazine fell open to the page with my layout on it
Super excited that I can finally show you the page I made back in November :)
Used bits from Studio Calico’s Yearbook kit
lots of Such Sweet Tierney Buttons
giving some height to the title
and the journaling :)
oh and spot the blue+white behind “capture” that is a promotional sticker from the kitLove to add those here and there
Just wish I could afford more of their kits lol
