I Want Me A Family Weekend

and me thinks that is what me got :) :)
Yesterday we went to Mum and Dad’s for the afternoon
We went so we could watch some of the Targa Classic Car Event that had a race leg past Mum and Dad’s
Dad had set us up, with 2 ute trays and a truck tray to sit in

so we could wave to the cars as they shot past

and then we had a bbq dinner, that was cooking while we became loud petrol heads!

Even two lots of neighbours came to use the good vantage spot and yummy food
Got lots of photos

and lots like this, or of the empty road, because my shutter was too slow lol

 

Other, rather cool, news was this

Dave’s youngest brother FINALLY got engaged, love that I got the sun sparkling on the ring :)
and allowed me a photo

yes it got better

and then we got a nice one :)

and right now we are waiting for our pool to fill up

It’s rather hot here today
We have the air conditioner on
Chicken cooking in the oven ready to be pulled apart to make a salad for when the girls get out of the pool
and my sister and her girls are also coming over and staying the night
And so endeth my family weekend

“I Want To Tell My Kids About Scrapbooking”

said Elizabeth, talking about when she grows up
Now that made my internal smile light up
More on that later
Yesterday, before we got Jessica, I took the girls to visit the recycle shop
I found 2 packets of gorgeous OLD buttons
1 packet contained covered buttons and I had a play with them last night
While I waited for Dave to arrive home from soccer training

I was also itching to have a play with some new stamps I had found on Etsy, from seller Pretty Tape

Love the doily pattern
Would love this pack of stamps for that reason too :) :)
I also got some of the yummy paper tape, but more on that later too :)

I see that Prima have released the same sort, with the frosty/glass glaze, I bought these from Lincraft lastyear and they are distributed by Sullivans, wonder if they are actually the same flower… just wondering :)
Also yesterday I picked up this tag, also from the recycle shop, it was a little more weathered than the ones I had so it seemed perfect to take home and put through the trusty typewriter :)

So back to the Elizabeth’s When-I-Grow-Up comment
This morning all the girls scrapped

I had printed off a few photos for each of them and we took over the dining table
I even had the chance to start a page while they did their thing
They all made 4 pages, except Lucy who did 3

I was amazed at how well this scrap session went
I think that they have all, finally, got the hang of the whole paper/sticker thing and were quite happy to do their own thing without any help
I’m happy with that too :)
So the page I started, and then finished later

Yesterday we found a lizard in the sunroom
It was one we hadn’t seen before so I did some googling and found out what type it was
A Mountain Dragon
Pretty cool name!

Today we also had a visit from a friend and her 2 boys
She also stayed for dinner so it was good catching up with her
Today is also the 2nd last Friday before school goes back
Which means it’s the 2nd last weekend

So her and I sat and had a cuddle while the other 4 got scrappy

When we went to pick her up we were greeted with more scrapbook pages
We had inspired Megan’s friend, her sister and Jessica to pull out some crafty things and scrap
The friend already had an album, packed away in the back of some drawer, and by the time we got there she had already filled 4 pages and did more while we were there
Jessica came home with 2 pages, using some zoo and animal photos that they had
Not a bad way to inspire someone is it??
Love it when kids scrap
Love it when you can show others how easy it is to keep those memories and to put them down on paper

I Want To Boogie

Before Christmas I started this page
It stumped me and sat on my table
Staring at me
Taunting me
Saying Nah Nah you can’t finish me
It was right
I couldn’t
Until today
I pulled that sucker out
And I finished it
Putting a stop to it’s taunts

The glimmer misted mask is actually the reverse from this page

was also reused from one of these candy canes

added some more starage, yes I make up words, by adding this sticker strip from Jenni Bowlin

the reindeer was also recycled, coming from the envelope that contained a letter from Santa

 

So glad it’s finished!!
Today was Australia Day
A public holiday
A day off for Dave
This morning we too the girls to see The Princess and The frog
Lucy didn’t last till the end
She had a moment…
So her and I sat out and missed the ending
Thankfully the moment didn’t last all day :) :)

I Want To Make Hay While The Sun Shines

The girls have spent the weekend at Mum and Dads
While Dave and I amused ourselves around home :)
They enjoyed themselves
And we did too  :)
Yesterday we awaited the phonecall to say they were about to start baling Dad’s hay
That was our cue to go help, oh and to get the girls :)

So some 895 bales or so later we finished off the day with a bbq
And after returning home late we had to wash some grubby girls and then ourselves to get rid of the i’ve-been'-in-the-hay-and-am-all-prickly feeling

So back to the weekend…
Dave and I spent time just hanging out

Rented a DVD and ate takeaway Chinese food
Dave mowed the lawns and took down the remaining Christmas lights

And I found the stick pin that I lost a while back, so YAY

I Want Time For The Little Things

One of our ‘holiday’ things is for the girls to have their nails painted
During school they aren’t allowed stuff like that
So school holidays is the perfect time
When we picked Megan up this morning she had blue nails
And it was a perfect time to stop and pull out the nail polish
Or in our case the nail tint, so much easier to remove lol

 

So I painted 40 toe and 30 finger nails, although Jessica did give her own a go :)
It just shows how busy we have been though
3 weeks left of the holidays and we haven’t done a single thing on my what-we-can-do-in-the-holidays list
Which is also good because it means we have been busy with loads of other stuff
and most of that other stuff has been with other people/friends/family
And that is far better than anything on my what-we-can-do-in-the-holidays list!!

Tonight Dave started back at soccer training
which is another sign that the year is flying past too quickly :)

I Want Me A Giant Chocolate Bar

Maybe not Cherry Ripe though :)
We spied this ‘bar’ in a window while we were away
Yep, did you notice??
We have been away
We went up to Launceston to see Grandma, Dave’s Mum, who as over seeing her Dad
So now I so many photos that it took me ages just to pick a few to share here
Along with just a few of the things we have been up to
The first morning we had little bunny rabbits at our front door and ducks at the back

Elizabeth lost/pulled the 2nd of her top front teeth

we took Grandma 10 pin bowling

Dave had to go to work, up near Launceston, on Monday
So the girls and I did a little exploring
We ended up spending 2 hours in Sheffield
The town of Murals

The girls loved looking at each of the paintings
And Lucy was the first to decide that they could have fun with the paintings and posing for photos

 

we found quite a few cool shops to look through
The girls loved this one

they had an old piano outside for people to play

and inside was a kids corner with typewriters, cameras and all manner of cool stuff

We got home late Monday night and Tuesday we went in to see Baby Isaac

and we all had MANY cuddles
Today we have been out visiting
Megan is having a sleep over at a friends
And while the girls and Dave played Wii, after dinner, I scrapped this quick page :)

 

‘popped’ the O and made it sideways… for no real reason :)

and gave my typewriter some tinker time :)

So now its the middle of another week
Not long till the girls go back to school
3 weeks!!
The holidays have flown past and I wish they were longer
So much still to do and the year is already looking like it is fuller than an goog on steroids (whatever that maybe lol)
