I Dream of Wild Things

I just never imagined they would still be around when I woke!
This morning we got up to find some of Lucy’s hair beside the rubbish bin
Seemed the little darling princess RAT had decided to find the scissors and hack off a 3cm handful of hair
She snipped it at about ear level
Just as well it was only a handful or we would have had a trip to the hairdressers today
And this is from the kid who loves her hair long because she wants to be a princess when she grows up
And we all know princesses have long flowing locks not hacked off to the ear hair…
On the topic of hair
Jessica went to the bath with pink in her hair
She doesn’t know where it came from
???!!!

Sigh :) :) :)

Today I baked
In fact the poor oven, which is way too slow for my liking, was on for almost 6 hours
I baked 6 loaves of banana bread

 

and 2 roast chickens, with roasted potato (the normal and sweet varieties)

So why all the baking??
The bread is for Church
For Live Free Tassie
Who lost a lot of their food supplies in the recent fire, you can read about it on their site
So, because our church is home for some of those that live and work at Live Free, we are pooling baked goodies
Which will help out, feeding those that will be coming to rebuild what has been lost
I did cut into one loaf though
It was a thin one and Dave looked peckish after his afternoon of soccer
So I took pity on him and then bagged up the remaining slices and they are now in the freezer for lunch boxes :)
The chickens were for our dinner and I cooked 2 so we would have some for lunches next week
They were delish :) and I like forward thinking :) :)

I Dream of Being 5

Yesterday the Schmuz turned 5

Grandma gave her the requested pink fix

and we gave her the requested laptop

She loved that she had her birthday at school
I took a basketful of birthday bubbles with me to pick her up

 

She requested a barbeque tea

a pink cake

and ice cream for dessert

which were consumed laying down

and not just by the kids, although he doesn’t look as comfy as the kids,

 

but this usually happens when Poppy lies down for too long

here is my Mum using ‘my inheritance’, or wishful thinking as she says

and of course there was much of this

I think she liked turning 5 :)

I Dream of Mermaids

4 of them
4 little mermaids all in the pool
All enjoying the water
Well almost all enjoying the water
Lucy went better tonight, at swimming, but was still a little unsure about it all
Hopefully next week there WILL be 4 little mermaids in the pool and lovin’ it :)
Lucy also wanted to scrap today
She nagged me yesterday too
So today I gave in ;)
She choose this photo and made this page
I just did the stitching and helped with the spelling ;)

  

Oh and the other news is she had a nap for me today!!
That hardly ever happens
But she has a cold and with swimming tonight I knew it was needed
While she slept I started on this page :)

So what can I tell you about this page??
I used the Baker’s Dozen kit from Studio Calico 
I used some scraps too
Here you can see the cut-off-throw-away strip from the My Minds Eye paper
I used the promo card for the Anthology line from Studio Calico
Oh and the gorgeous doily stamp that came with the kit

I used some of the new buttons (chipboard and altered) that I received from Such Sweet Tierney

 

They are just gorgeous and I am having fun playing with them

Oh and the journaling
Must tell you about the journaling
I thought I would be clever, ha!
I used some Washi paper tape
I put it on some scrap paper and fed it into the typewriter
The typewriter went on it like a knife to butter, perfect
Then came the clever part, ha again!
I thought I would peel the tape off so I could just use that on the page, and you’d be able to see through it
But where the typewriter had letters like o or a or p, where there was a centre, it decided to rip
But I used it anyway
You can see some of the print from the pattern paper between some of the missing letters
But I think I like the raw, rustic look lol

So that was our day :)
Today in the mail I found the new QTea kit
I had a flick through, YUMMMMMM
But can’t play with it till Thursday
Tomorrow Lucy and I are hanging out with some friends, yay :)

I Dream Of Blog Posts

but have been struggling to find time to write them
Life has got back to it’s borderline ready-to-overwhelm-me busy self
The girls have started swim lessons again
Poor Lucy screamed
So her and Elizabeth are having a private lesson next week and hoping that helps her out
The others did well and loved being back in the pool
This morning was my first real day of being home alone
Dave at work and the girls at school
I spent the morning helping to get the school canteen ready for tomorrow, the first canteen day
Got home and wasn’t home long before the phone rang
Elizabeth had an earache and I had to go pick her up
Don’t know if it was a ‘real’ earache or not because she had seen me leaving school, after canteen
She didn’t seem to upset when we got home either
We go to see the specialist next week, to check her grommets, so I will be asking about that one :)
I finished off these 2 pages today
Have been working on them, on and off, since yesterday
