Making Figure Eights

This is how we passed time this afternoon

IMG_2793com

Removing training wheels from 2 bikes and watching with amazement as this rabbit rode on 2 wheels for the first time

IMG_2789com

and this chicky zoomed off EVERYWHERE, with glee (and a few squeals!)

IMG_2813com

and someone got bored with just riding so did some daredevil work

IMG_2816com

and tried to out do herself with some of this

IMG_2820com

and another show off had to come along and do his thing too

IMG_2823com

oh and just to show we were all there

IMG_2807com

and you will have to take my word for it but even I had a ride for a while
twas a nice way to spend the afternoon
and good to know that all 4 of our girls are now bike riders, to a degree Smile

What Brings On A Sigh?

A sweet pea turned 6 today

IMG_2727com

we celebrated with a cake

IMG_2748com

and a birthday pavalova

IMG_2760com

she got some cool presents

IMG_2759com

like a pink bike covered in unicorns

100_4117com

and now this chickadee is slumbering, after enjoying her first day of being 6

PS her mother was thrilled to find she had a layout picked as “Featured Project” at Twopeas, who’d have thought!

You Landed On My Mind

Baking day here today
You might see a theme appearing
Banana, sultana and apricot loaf
Banana Cake (because Dave asked for one)
and 4 batches of banana muffins (4 batches because I misread the recipe, went to double the what I thought was 1/2 cup sugar only to reread the recipe to find it was 1/4… too late had mixed the sugar into the butter so made 4 batches… never mind they are all now in the freezer for school lunch boxes)
Yes we had loads of bananas
With the price rise, due to the floods in Queensland, people just aren’t buying bananas and definitely not the big ones
Mum was given a heap that were ‘thrown out’ stock from a supermarket, she rang me and I went and she gave us about 40, hence the baking theme for today, all of which got the thumbs up when my taste testers got home from school

Between the baking I scrapped this page

100_4097

added this flower to the Sassafras Lass entwined bloom

100_4100

love me paint, stitching and washi tape

100_4103

cut up a free postcard that I found while in Brisbane

100_4101

and added it to the back of my journaling

100_4102

oh and the banana cake I iced with cream cheese icing, first time I have made that and am now inspired to make something else just so I can make some more icing… maybe a carrot cake….

An Apple A Day Is Good For Your Brain

Aussie Scrap Source have started a series on making it yourself and as a part of that they are running weekly challenges for the next eight weeks.
The first challenge is to make your own background pattern paper.
Here is my entry for the challenge

100_4068

This photo is from over a year ago and from the moment I took it I knew what I wanted to say but could never find the right words

100_4074

I just love it when a challenge gives you the opportunity to create something that has been on your heart for a long time
and an opportunity to use mist, paint, doodling, little bits of paper….

100_4072

is perfecto-mondo!
Add a quote from a literary genius…

100_4070

that’s like icing on a donut
and being able to add some buttons, staples and corrugated cardboard

100_4071

bliss delish!!!

Anyway this weeks challenge doesn’t end till lunchtime tomorrow (Aussie time) so why not make the most of the opportunity and create Smile

Don't Lose Your Grip On The Dreams Of The Past

Remember when I said that I had a photo I was holding back from our trip to Zoo Doo??
Well, here it is, along with the story

100_4054

I’ve used stamps from Banana Frog and you can read a little more about the “how to’s" in my Banana Frog post but first some close ups

100_4056

100_4057

and the story

100_4058

100_4059

So much about this photo/story do I find cool but mostly just saying “Hey Elizabeth YOU fed a tiger” is very cool!!
Something else that is cool
This loaf of cheese and onion pull apart that Elizabeth and I baked today

IMG_2702

Have to say… twas yummo Smile

I Wanna Write Bad Poetry

This is a quiet post
Please turn off your mobile phone
Put down the noisy bag of potato chips
and listen to the post
It can speak for itself

100_4062

But I must say that the Such Sweet Tierney buttons are WAY COOL

100_4063

Oh and I have I told you I love Dave?

100_4064

but if you need proof

100_4065

oh and did you know I like mist, washi tape, scraps of paper, stitching………

100_4066

oh and coffee on the couch, but that’s a whole other story and I wasn’t going to talk through this post… sorry!!
Don’t forget to turn your mobile phone back on and if you can take your rubbish with you, as you leave, that would be great Smile

A Beautiful Ride

Well, holidays are over
School is back
Yesterday was the first day of the new school year
Dave had the day off and we spent it together, even went to the movies together ($5 kid flick but still…lol)
I think this ‘back to school’ photo says it all

IMG_2647com

I can see Lucy being cheeky
I can see Megan trying to hurt Jessica
I see Jessica trying to be very good
I see Elizabeth over standing up

Jessica’s bandage leg is from her run in with some barbed wire on Monday
Had a trip to the after hours GP to dress the nasty cut and now she has to keep the bandage on till Sunday
It’s already been taken off a couple of times and today a kid at school pulled the bandage and dressing off
Fun lol

They are all very happy to be back at school and so far it’s all been smiles and they are loving it Smile
I’ve been good too, until I uploaded photos from my camera today
It’s amazing how a photo can pull on the heart strings and as soon as I saw the first one I was sighing lol

On Saturday I went to my pal Allison’s house for a scrap with her and her Mum, Rosie Posie
I started 3 pages but was mega tired (thanks to the neighbours grrrrr) so I didn’t complete the pages
and pulled the pin on the scrapping and came home
Well, today I finished off those pages and will leave you with this one

100_4047

Love the new Such Sweet Tierney chipboard buttons
SOOOOO Cute!!!

100_4050

and perfect for this page

100_4051

100_4052

and hopefully now school is back I will find some more time to get back to blogging
There are lots of stories I haven’t shared but hope to soon, as I scrap them Smile

The Monkeys Stand For Honesty

Can you guess what we did today?
A hint…
IMG_2612com

and while you are thinking about that…
A layout
Suzie, from Love Scrappin’, sent some yummy goodies from the Pink Paislee Father Christmas range
I had to make a layout and use a technique with paper
This is the page I made

100_3738

I made some paper scrolls and tied it all up with string

100_3742

I’d seen this technique a few times, on other people’s work, and really wanted to try it out
Was super easy and I just love it on this page

100_3745

One of the coolest things about the Pink Paislee range are all the gorgeous prints you can cut out

100_3743

Did I say gorgeous?!

100_3741

So how did you go with guessing what we did today?
Yesterday we took Megan and Jessica for another holiday at Poppy’s house
So today the younger 2 and I went for a drive
We went to Zoo Doo
and got to see lots of animals
like emus and ostriches

IMG_2606com

llamas and camels

IMG_2614

deer and wallabies

IMG_2619com

IMG_2624com

snakes and tigers

IMG_2627com

miniature ponies and white lions

IMG_2632com

and as you can see we got to feed some
But there is one photo I haven’t shown you
I’m saving that one for a layout and hope to share that, and the story, soon Smile
