You Never Thought To Share What You Knew

I was excited to see the new challenge series running over at Aussie Scrap Source
Style Lounge inspires you to try different styles of scrapping and the first one is Shabby Chic
and here is my ummm attempt

used the cool new signboards from Scrapmatts,
spraying it with glimmer mist and backing it with some vintage paper from a dictionary 

used some Prima flowers and a Making Memories butterfly, that was placed in a Tim Holtz photo holder

The paint colour was a little daunting but I just pretended it wasn’t soft pink and the cream was black

I think it worked
Yesterday the girls decided to pull out their Thomas sets
They all have a couple of sets each and have enough, between them, to loop the house and beyond

They continued with their ‘Thomas-ing’ again today

and this was the sight that greeted Uncle Samuel when he arrived for a visit this afternoon

Jessica spent most of her afternoon at a birthday party
All the guests were put into teams and they all competed in an Amazing Race
Jessica came home very tired after enjoying the day immensely
Her team came first and they all received certificates and got to keep their team bandannas 

and now it’s time for me to put my feet up, to sip on a coffee and to have a nuggle with Dave

I'm Surrounded By A Million People

This was the first photo I took of Dave’s adventure
It was taken the morning he left
I dragged him outside on a cold morning and made him sit with his Lonely Planet book
Funnily enough it is the last of my photos, about his trip, to scrap with
I was inspired by the April 15 sketch at Stuck Sketches and used pieces from the April Polka Dot Whimsy kit

Love bikes, love tape… the Tim Holtz tape is a sure winner

used some of the water colours that used to be Dave’s Grandmas

and journalled my thoughts

So Dave is now back and I’ve uploaded his photos, approx. 200, he has told me he intends to scrap some
I suggested maybe a little scrap retreat for him and I…
We will see!!

Our Land Is Girt By Sea

This morning saw us up early
and off to our local ANZAC day march

Elizabeth and Jessica marching with their Guide group
And Megan laying a wreath on behalf of her school

And because today was all about remembering those who fought for our freedom
I thought it fitting it fell on Easter Monday
and so it was that we spent some of the afternoon playing with bubbles, which also remind me of being free

Glitter On The Highway

We spent Easter at Mum and Dad’s shack

spent time on the beach
Built a castle or two

Went fishing
Caught a fish or two

and ate a bunny…

or two!
Now I am off to have a shower and wash off three days of sand and ick
Then make myself a coffee before heading off to enjoy a sleep in my own bed

Leave All The Madness Behind

I enjoyed making this page
It came quickly together but then I had to leave it and finish it off the next day
A process I don’t like but it seems to be the norm so I go with it

Let's All Get Up And Dance To A Song

A page inspired by the new Once Upon a Sketch challenge 
I used the sketch for the basics

a little misting, cutting up, paint and machine stitching added to washi tape…

a little doodling to highlight the point of the photo and page

I think it is a good thing for people to talk about stuff that brings them down
I think it doesn’t hurt to talk about when life is tough
I think it’s good to get it out and believe it is good to be honest and real
and without Dave here to say it all to… well, a luggage tag, or two, is always helpful

because I’m not writing it to have a go at anyone
I’m not writing it to dwell or to have a pity party
I am writing it because it is life right now
It is good that Dave is where he is
There’s just a sucky side to it all and I so I am sucking up the suckies

PS did I ever mention I love my dymo labeller??
PPS an overtired Lucy is in bed singing
PPPS oops nope now she is up again
PPPPS I am going to make myself a much needed coffee and hope to drink it while it’s hot
