She is now 7

The day started early, with unwrapping presents. Jessica was over the moon with her birthday stash!

In the morning we had a visit from a Kanina and her 2 kids. They stayed a while and joined us for lunch. After that I took the girls to a park before Dave came and got Megan for soccer training.

Mum and Dad came before Dinner and took Jessica shopping, she came home with some pencils, crayons and lots of blank books to fill with drawings, her favourite thing to do! We had the requested pizza and then some yummy chocolate overloaded birthday cake!

Then on to today, this was the sun coming up

We had a visit from Batman

and his brother Spiderman, while their Mum went to the Dr.

and in other news, playing catch up now... I had submitted my gnome layout, after prompting from Lindsay, for the challenge over at Inspired by Amelie and I was chuffed to find out that they picked it as the winner for that months challenge! So I win some stamps, will let you know when they come :)
My layout of Dave in the drum was picked as layout of the day over on the SIS TV Mod Squad blog on the 31st of May, my One Little Word page for Think made the showcase and my Scrap Mojo page was also in amongst the highlighted layouts, yay :)

Today the Scrap-n-Crop Project Scrap-away announced those going on to the 3rd round, yay I made it!! The challenge for round 2 was to use junk and a photo that wasn't of yourself or family. I love these types of challenges, where you get to use things that aren't scrappy. So here is my page :)

For this page I used the following recycled items, going anti clockwise around the page, a paper doily from under a cake, the packaging from a packet of kid stickers, a neck tag from a bottle of iced tea, a clothing tag, 2 pieces of note paper that the kids had scribbled on, a piece of ripped book that the kids had torn from a book, a burst balloon, a promotional coaster from the library, an orange bag, a flyer from the library, a smiley face from a kids game that was broken, packaging and dots from the hole punch. The only other things used were a stapler, hole punch, sewing machine, typewriter and a pen.

Journaling “Sometimes I feel like the swings in a park… Waiting quietly, expecting life to be fun, anticipating adventure… Wondering what life has in store for you next. The twists, the turns, the highs, the lows and the inevitable tumbles. Never knowing what might turn up next to give you the push you need. The push you need to grow. Sometimes I wish I didn’t have to wait. Sometimes I wish I had it in me to push myself higher than before, just to see what would happen… but RIGHT NOW I am happy to wait, happy to push others to go higher and I am happy watching them soar. RIGHT NOW I know it is my time to wait but one day I will soar too.”

You can see the other entries here and we all had to be the judge so it was a very cool and interesting round. Round 3 is announced over night so I'm looking forward to seeing it in the morning :)
