This afternoon Elizabeth, Jessica, Megan and I made the presents for their teachers at school.
We made coasters and I thought I would share the process with you as it was super quick, easy and effective!!
First we started with some cardstock (we used scraps), coloured pencils (as I thought textas might run, so they had to colour 'hard' so it would show up better), wooden coasters, circle cutter, glue and varnish
Then I glued the cardstock onto the coaster
and added the first of three coats of varnish.
When this was dry I used in to colour the edge of the coaster.
I think they look pretty good!
You could also use a slightly bigger circle and sand the edges back to fit the coaster. Result is a unique gift :) As you can see on some of them, you need to draw heavily so you can still see the drawing through the varnish. On the backs I wrote Art by... 2007. Hopefully it will be something that the teachers will keep :)
I also made a ribbon version. I used double sided tape to stick ribbon onto the coaster
cut off the excess and voila, I like ;)
This afternoon we also went to visit Santa and then on to buy 2 new Christmas CDs. Not much else that my brain can remember so that's that folks :) Thanks for visiting.
Ooowww.. how awesome! And such a great idea! The kids really did a great job..and so did mommy! Thank you so much for sharing your ideas with us!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! XOXO
