Today we celebrated someone’s birthday

we celebrated in the backyard
with a bbq and an echidna birthday cake
because there wasn’t the requested chocolate cheesecake at the supermarket
and the echidna was too cool not to buy, ‘twas yummy too!

we celebrated because this amazing young lady turned 12

oh and what do you do with an echidna face once it’s been taken off the cake??
you find someone handsome to try it on Smile

Took this from my facebook, wanted it here for the future

”today I am reminded of how amazing life is. I am reminded of how, 12 years ago, I needed drugs to get me through the most intimidating 24 hours of my life. Reminded of the nervous anticipation of meeting someone new. Someone who would show us how fragile life could be. Someone who started us on a new adventure, called parenthood. ‎12 years of being thankful that she is with us and 12 years of watching her grow into the beautiful young woman that she is. Oh and she is VERY excited that her new sneakers are size 9 and that soon she will have bigger feet than me. Sigh :)”
