This month's kit, Reminiscence, is full of vintage goodies. I looked at this kit and thought 'what am I going to do with this' as I am definitely not a vintage scrapper and I don't really scrap vintage photos. But I didn't let it stump me too long and the thing I loved most about the kit is that it was beautifully coordinated, which made my job that much easier because I didn't have to think about it working together or not. All in all I made 3 layouts, 3 cards and a mini album. I didn't have to add much to the kit, so for the just over $20AU price it is a great kit to purchase not just for the vintage scrapper or someone who has some vintage photos that need scrapping because I have used it to make some non vintage pages.
Here are all the things I made with the Reminiscence kit.
I struggled with the 'vintage photo' thing until I remembered this photo that I had filed away of Dave's Dad's family
I glimmer misted the chipboard keys and also took the 'throw away' pieces of the alpha sheet and used them as journal spots.
I then remembered this photo of Dave's Grandparents at their wedding, ideal for this kit.
Punched some of the 'sheet music' scrap paper and then sprayed it with glimmer mist. Added one of the flowers and a button to make some layered flowers.
and then to show that you don't have to use vintage photos or a vintage story I scrapped this page
I used the 'left over' part of the S in the title. I also cut up pieces of some scraps to make the 'ruffles'
The kit was just great for cards because no matter what combination paper you used it just works.
Included in the kit is a vinyl. I had seen what Christina Clouse did with a vinyl here and have been wanting to make a mini album with a vinyl since seeing it. So I cut the little sucker right down the middle, used my bind it all, yes the bind it all coped with cutting through the record, and created this mini album.
The inside pages are the vintage sheet music pages from the kit. I glimmer misted them. In hindsight I don't suggest doing this with these pages because they are brittle and tear really easily. Now that I have done it though I don't think the book will last long as a book but that's ok because I already have an idea of what to do if the book does fall apart.
Well you rocked the vintage kit for someone who doesn't do vintage!! :-) Wish I had thought to use my record that way!! ;-) hehehee
ReplyDeleteI love all of the pages, but I have to say, the one without the vintage photo is my favorite! You certainly showed that you don't have to use vintage photos with vintage kits!! I love how you used all of the little left over bits - so creative!
