I Like Surprising People

and I have been working on something
Plodding away
Doing a little at a time
Lots of layers
To create a surprise for someone
Today I finished this

100_1513

and now it’s on it’s way to surprise someone
Hope they like :)

I had left over paint from this page
I wiped it on some white cardstock to use later
Yesterday was that later :)

100_1504

Shipping tag from PaperandParcel
Chipboard buttons SuchSweetTierney

Only a smidge of journaling

100_1506

and some washi tape from PrettyTape (grid tape) and DudlyRedhead (red tape)

I Don’t Remember Being 9

but I do remember that Mum made 2 identical cakes
a 6 and a 9
for my sister and for me
and we couldn’t tell whose was whose

Today Jessica went to a 9th birthday party
She helped choose the colours for the card

100_1496

It was a boy’s birthday so it started with the obvious blue choice ;)

The Color Room has their new challenge up
Challenge 3

Here is what I made

100_1490

Don’t have a lot of purple, violet, lilac, lavender or any other shades of purple lol
So I used the mist/dye I made a while back from food colouring
I washed it out a lot to get the lilac-y colour

100_1492

and I used some gesso to back the journaling
Drew my own journal lines

100_1493

Dave had soccer today
He only got a little wet from the rain we had lol
and won his game, can’t think of the score :)
While Jessica was at the party we had 2 friends over, picked them up from the party
One Megan’s age
One Elizabeth’s age
Lucy hang out with me
and neither of us minded ;)

And that, my friends,  was my Saturday
Hi to all the new followers/readers :) Don’t stay quiet, I’d love to hear from you :) :)

I Was Taken Out For Lunch Today

I picked Dave up from work and we went and had an early lunch together
Rather nice
Thank you :)
I did 2 lots of parent help this morning
Helped Jessica’s class make some 3D shapes with straws and Blu Tack
And then helped Elizabeth’s with some literacy
Lucy came home with this today

100_1487com

it’s more of an encouragement award than anything
I think the teacher is working her way through the class so they all get one :)
But Lucy thought it was the best and was so proud
Went round showing and telling everyone :)
Megan started a drama class today after school
Adds to the list of run-around-things but she loved it :)
Speaking of Megan, here is the page I made for this months Kraft It Up challenge
Using Kraft and one monochrome colour
I used grey

100_1404

The page contains a letter
She wanted to read it NOW
but I have told her it’s for when she’s older
Will see if curiosity kills the cat lol

100_1406

Used some Studio Calico rubons

100_1407

some bakers twine

100_1408

dyed a doily, added it to a shipping tag with a Such Sweet Tierney chipboard button, cut in half of course ;)

100_1409

I added some dimensional magic dots
Made my own grey colour crackle paint with some Tim Holtz white and black

100_1411

and there you go :)
Julie, you asked a question, some posts back, about stitching over the thickers.
I was going to answer and always remembered AFTER the computer was off!
I have smacked myself around so that I would remember and the answer is…
My machine is on tension setting 4.
The kids have played with the tension before so it has been up and down
But I’ve had no problem stitching over the alphas
It goes through them like a knife through butter ;)
So if it’s not the tension I have no clue how to help you lol
Thanks for asking and, again, sorry for not answering straight away :)

I Went To School Today

as a parent helper
helped out in the Schmuz’s class for a while this morning

100_1485com

watching them decorate hats

100_1480com

fun fun fun :)
the other part of my day was spent at places that shouldn’t be talked about
the supermarket
Blah!
Will leave you with the page I made for the 2nd Color Room challenge
Here’s this week’s palette of colours

and here is what I created using those colours

100_1435

Used Suede and Creme de Chocolat glimmer mist for the background

100_1428

Dyed the doily with Juniper glimmer mist

100_1429

some layers of woodgrain contact that I had cut some scallops free hand
Basic Grey alphas that were edged with a navy coloured Sharpie pen
Name tag is a free digi element from here

100_1427

freehand cut a heart from the photo
backed it with some scrap cardstock, filled it in with my navy Sharpie pen and then machine stitched over it.

100_1430

and finally the journaling is on some brown dymo tape I bought from our local recycle shop
And just noticed that the misted background looks a little like a heart shape… Would like to say “Gee I am good” but won’t lol

I Used To Play The Saxophone

but now someone else plays it

100_1449com

and will end up playing it better than I ever did :)

I spied these this afternoon

100_1474com

and this one made me teary, the first flower since last year

100_1438com

It has lots of other buds so I am looking forward to seeing it all in flower :)

My very first work for Marks Paper Co. went up on the blog today
This months kit is Birds, Blooms and Bikes

Sneak

You can find it at here at TwoPeas
I don’t have Photoshop
But I do have Microsoft Word and with some advice from Trusty Dave I got busy
Layering elements, changing sizes… lots of fun
and then I got down to printing
and creating
I absolutely adore the tricycle element in the kit and was inspired to find some trike photos
I found 2
One of Lucy at 3
and one of me at 3
So firstly here is Lucy’s layout

100_0922

It’s a 8.5x11 and almost all of the things are from the digi kit
everything except this little corner :)

100_0927

and the Jenni Bowlin lettering

100_0926

Did some distressing

100_0925

and some typing

100_0924

isn’t that tricycle just the coolest??? I love it
and had to use it again
But the tag goes the other way this time ;)

100_0928

The title uses alphas from a previous digi kit Text Me

 100_0931

I layered it onto the pink paper from the Birds, Bloom and Bikes kit and then went over each with some dimensional magic to give them dimension

100_0935

and had to have some texture so added some hand stitching and a doily :)

100_0932

See the blue trike paper, sigh! SOOO good!!
Added some ink for more dimension and a ‘wheels’ brad because it was waiting for such a time as this ;)

100_0934

and the journaling :)

100_0930

So I have taken a step out in the hybrid world
Not as scary as I thought it would be lol
Can’t wait for Stacy’s next kit and what inspiration it will provide

Now I will leave you with a photo
Just a little something I was playing with today :)

I Like Spending Time With The Schmuz

seems that today’s post is all about her

100_1417com

Recently Kim Archer had a design team call
I was thrilled to be picked in the Top 15 to go through to the second round
The second round contained three challenges
2 of which were to take 2 of Kim’s classes and put your own ‘twist’ to each
What I love about Kim’s work is that it always looks AMAZING
I haven’t taken an online class before, always had a daunting feeling about doing so.
Her classes are easy to follow, have great step by step photos, amazing gallery and you know that the end result will be a wonderful creation
The first class was a layout, here is my interpretation

100_1003

and some close ups :)

100_0999

100_1000

100_1001

100_1002

and the journaling :)

100_0998

I also used a step by step class to make this mini and a pocket to store it in :)

100_0993

My third creation, for the challenges, will be part of the upcoming Mother’s Day Workshop that Kim will be running soon.
The new members of Kim’s Design Team were announced yesterday and, although I wasn’t one of them, I am thrilled by the creative people she chose. Do yourself a favour, head over to Kim’s blog or site and see what classes she has to offer or just check out her design team, AMAZING :)

Today I organised my ever growing bakers twine
I LOVE IT, seriously!!
Quite some time ago I bought my first lot and they arrived on some cotton reels
But since then each one has arrived just coiled or sometimes wrapped on a piece of card
I find this to be annoying because it usually doesn’t unravel properly and ends up knotty
So today I put an end to my knotty lumps of twine
I wound them onto some wooden clothes pegs
Much easier to find the end
Much easier to unravel
and I think it looks much MUCH better :)

100_1390com

So there this post wasn’t totally about Lucy
But will leave you with another photo of her blue tongue
She had a left over lollipop from the party bag she got 2 weekends ago :)

100_1420com

Wonder where she gets her attitude from…
