REIVEW – BRAVE

I was super excited to see Brave
on the list of DVDs we would receive to review from Disney
I love the whole concept of a female hero
and a young female hero just makes me smile!
We all settled down to watch and from the very beginning we were hooked!

Brave 2D E17890 Packshot

Our girls all love accents
In fact if they hear one they will mimic it for days
BELIEVE ME!!
So when Brave started the girls spent the first five minutes trying out their Scottish accents
(which happens to be their all time favourite accent!)
Once they had that out of their system they all enjoyed the story.
It’s a story of love.
Love of a Mum and a Daughter.
It’s a story about being true to yourself.
It’s a story about being brave and standing for what you truly want out of life.
As a Mum of girls all these things hit home for me
and I hoped that each of girls took something away from the movie.
Got to love it when a movie brings more than just entertainment and filling in time!
I just loved how the characters were like a real life family.
Princess Merida even throws tantrums like a teenager!
So many great quotes in the movie too.
Some of my favourites…
”If you had a chance to change your fate, would you?”
”are you willing to pay the price your freedom will cost?”
”I don't want to get married, I want to stay single
and let my hair flow in the wind as I ride through the glen firing arrows into the sunset.”
The girls favourite part…
when Lord Dingwall says ”Feast your eyes” ( I won’t tell you anymore than that, but I will sigh!)

REVIEW–SANTA PAWS 2

Do you love Christmas movies?
We do!
But the lead up to Christmas was a very busy one and our Christmas movies sat waiting.
One of those movies was from Disney

image

Elizabeth was lucky enough to watch it at school.
In fact she raved about it for weeks.
We’d be in the car, heading somewhere, and she’d tell us the plot over and over!
She’d talk about the characters “Comet”, “Dancer”  “Donner” and her favourite was one of the new pups “Charity”.
In fact if you listened to her play she’d be calling something Charity, yep that’s how much she loved this movie!

Do you like Christmas movies?
Do you have a Christmas movie collection?
What’s your favourite?

Glad Santa Paws 2 has been added to our Christmas movie collection.

Disclosure: This is not a paid sponsored post. I received a complimentary copy of “Santa Paws 2” DVD, from the people at Mango,
for review purposes, and all opinions expressed are purely my own (or Elizabeth’s!).

REIVEW: Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings

Are you like me?
You put a movie on, fully expecting to watch it, but end up watching bits?
That’s me.
And with loads of movies!
We recently received a copy of Disney’s new Tinker Bell movie
“Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings” from the lovely people at Mango

The girls had watched the first Tinker Bell movie, another movie I partially watched…
and were all eager to watch this, the fourth in the series

Tinker_Bell_And_The_Secret_Of_The_Wings_DoublePlay copy

So because I didn’t watch it concentrate sit and view I’ve asked Lucy (who is 7) for a review.
It’s a story about how there might be someone on the other side of the world who is just like you.
Tinker Bell lives somewhere warm and she was told not to go to where it was cold.
Periwinkle lives somewhere cold and she was told not to go to where it was warm.
Tinker Bell wanted to find out why the wings twinkled
So she went to the library and found the book of wings
It had been half eaten by book worms
The biggest book worm told her to go find the other half in the “Frost Forest”
She hides in a basket and a bird carries her to Frost Forest
Tinker Bell met Periwinkle in the library.
Then when Tinker Bell and Periwinkle put their wings together the wings glow.

I told Lucy to stop here, she was giving too much of the story away!
So you will just have to watch it to see what happens!!!

The movie is perfect for family viewing and all our girls enjoyed it.
It would, definitely, make a little girl happy to receive at Christmas time
I will leave you with one more thing from Miss Lucy

“My favourite is the one that makes the flowers grow, she is Tinker Bells friend”

Giveaway–Cinderella

I don’t know about you
but when I think of Disney
One of the first things I think of is Cinderella.
I was pretty excited when Jayne, from PR firm Mango, sent us a copy of the movie to review

Cinderella 2012 E13730 3D Packshot

The Diamond Edition is available in stores right now
It includes never-before-seen deleted songs and scenes, family-‐friendly interactive activities and games.
AND,
for the very first time,
this movie has been brought to life on Blu-ray high definition, with enhanced picture and sound.

I love that this story captures the viewer from the word go.
It’s beautiful, in everyway, and is a story that is generational and gets told and retold often.
I love when movies from my childhood are remade, meaning we can share them with our kids too.
This story never fails to bring a smile and with a “Bibbiti Bobbidi Boo!” I have 3 copies to give away!!
So to enter you need to leave a comment, on this post, saying which character, from Cinderella, is your favourite and why.
All the entries will then be read to the girls and they are going to pick the 3 entries they like the best.
Make sure you leave your name and an email address so I can email the winners for their address details.
If you put your email details in the appropriate box, in the comment section, it won’t show up for everyone to see.
Only Australian residents are able to win.

We can’t wait to read your entries!
*Edited to add: Seems blogger has removed the email box, in the comments section. So please make sure you check back for the winner announcement. Winners will need to make contact, with their address details, within 24 hours of the announcement or a new winner will be chosen*

Giveaway–Beauty and the Beast

The lovely Jayne, from the PR firm Mango, recently asked if we would like to review the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast

Beauty & The Beast P11750 Beautyshot
How could I say no?!?!
Do you know the story?
How could you not?
But if you don’t…
”Beauty and the Beast, a true love classic follows the magical journey of the beautiful and intelligent Belle,
who is taken prisoner by a hideous beast. Despite all, Belle befriends the enchanted staff and learns to see
beneath the Beast’s scary appearance and discovers the heart and soul of a Prince.”
We have an old video copy of this movie so I was interested to see how the digital version measured up.
I was really surprised with how clear and wonderful the graphics were restored.
Watching the movie felt like it was a new movie and not the classic that it is.
The special features are always a favourite for our kids and the 2-disc DVD comes with some games and a sing a-long feature.
It also has behind the scenes features and The Story Behind The Story.

I love that Disney are restoring these magical classics and, sadly, this one has gone back into “the vault”.
It’s in shops, from yesterday, but once it’s sold out... you know the rest!
But wait…….
I have 2 to giveaway!!!
How cool is that!!
The girls and I were discussing the giveaway and it seems Megan is a hard task master
She said we should make you work a little!
So to enter you need to leave a comment, on this post, saying what your favourite childhood movie was and why.
All the entries will then be read to the girls and they are going to pick the 2 entries they like the best.
Make sure you leave your name and an email address so I can email the winners for their address details.
If you put your email details in the appropriate box, in the comment section, it won’t show up for everyone to see.
Only Australian residents are able to win.
Entries close midnight Sunday 5th August
And the winners will be announced and contacted Monday night.
We can’t wait to read your entries!
