He Likes To Pirate Dance

It’s reveal time over at Cocoa Daisy
The “Bed & Breakfast” kit is just gorgeous
I’ve made 2 layouts for reveal
and am looking forward to playing more with the kit
especially for all the amazing challenges that are going to be happening at the crop in a couple of weeks
The first page is using the kit

Publication1

I used  the “circle & squares” stencil add on with the “Sunshine” Maya Road mist add on

IMG_6770

and paper from the Candlewyck Inn paper add on

IMG_6772

oh and my trusty dymo had a run with some pink tape

IMG_6773

The second page I made

IMG_6783

I distressed the Jillibean Soup alpha

IMG_6784

used my circle punch on the Barley Pearls paper
and then stamped around each using the circle from the gorgeous Cocoa Daisy Dresden Quilt stamp

IMG_6785

machine stitched my journal lines

IMG_6786

Such a cool kit I am sure these won’t be around long
so if your interested make sure you head over to the Cocoa Daisy store
There are also some surprises happening
Including gorgeous Tote Bags with an exclusive design created by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer
The kits and bags will be available for purchase from November 1

In some home news:
Megan has had the opportunity to help write, direct, shoot and edit a film for the My State Film Festival competition with her school.
The school ended up entering 4 films and she’s excited that her film is now open for voting in the People’s Choice award.
You can view the film HERE and to vote you need to press one of the share buttons, in fact you can press all 300+ share buttons if you desired to do so (?!).
You don’t have to actually share it if you don’t want to, just press a share button, but I know she’d appreciate your vote (as would the other kids who took part in the film) and passing on the link so others can vote too.
She isn’t in the film because she was behind the camera for all of it. She loves LOVES LOVES this kind of thing
both the grade 6 teachers have told me how well she did with the job and how good she is at
I just love the way she has been enthusiastic about the whole process and how much she enjoys this creative outlet
I hope she gets to do something like this again in the future because it’s been a joy to watch

She had been at Band Camp since Monday

There were about 70 kids there and they did a half hour performance before we left
AMAZING
Glad our chicky is home
and glad she had such a wonderful time
AND glad she learnt lots while she was there

They Fill My Day

Even when they aren’t here
Today has been the first ‘real’ day of being home without anyone ALL DAY
The past Thursday’s I have helped out in the canteen in the morning
Usually filling the rest of the day with things so I didn’t have to contemplate the ‘no one here’ thing
The Fridays have been filled with that too but Dave has come home for lunch
Which is super nice :)
So today I had no canteen duty
A day to fill
So I came home and made some zucchini slice, ready for lunch boxes tomorrow
I then went and had a needed nap
It wasn’t a long one
Dave rang, waking me, to let me know he had arrived at his destination up North
I then got up, feeling good after my 15 minute sleep
I haven’t been sleeping well, with this cold, but last night got a full sleep
Well almost full…
Elizabeth woke me, at some point, to ask for a drink
I was hoping Dave might say ok, so she would stop telling us she needed a drink
But he just kept on snoring, yes people the man snores (not too badly or often but he does)
Yeah I know he had to have a flaw and that’s it :)
Anyway
He didn’t answer her
So I just grunted, because it hurts my throat to talk
and I wasn’t going to go to the effort of waking up enough to open my mouth
I hear her switch on the kitchen light and that was it
I was back off to dozey land
She usually says I love you before going back to bed
But I didn’t hear that lol
Don’t think the lack of reply has scarred her… well I hope it hasn’t!!

Right where was I…
Woken from my nap
Phone call
Dave
Oh yeah
So in amongst the rattling round the empty house…
Oh yeah I also turned the stereo on today!
That never happens
Me listen to something I want to listen to???
Well today I did :)
Ok off track again
Empty house
Rattling
Oh yeah…
I Scrapped again :)
I made this page, for the new These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things challenge
Your fave friend
Hmmmm
Who would that be??!!

100_0579

Oh yeah!
That’s Right
It would be umm Dave :)
I pulled apart a Prima vine

100_0582

One bud fell off
What a shame
Had to use it all by it’s lonesome
Just as well it looks nice :)

100_0583

used a doily stamp
Wasn’t too fussed that it wasn’t straight
Cos I like my doily stamp, thank you etsy seller prettytape :)

100_0585

realised
As I was making the page
That I wanted to use my trusty typewriter
Page was too big
So I cut it up
Still to big
Cut off the bit I wanted to type on
And then stuck it all back together :)

100_0584

Can you read the journaling??
I waffled on a lot, sigh
I like pages where you really have to look to see everything
You really have to stop and look to read the journaling over the pattern paper
Dave doesn’t like it too much
But I do :)
Makes people appreciate the page a little longer than a quick glance and a ‘oh that’s nice’
Takes them a couple of minutes then you get the ‘oh that’s nice’ lol

Megan came home from school with some homework
She had to finish off her self portrait
And she did

100_0588com

I like it
And I liked this flower that I spied when I turned the sprinklers off
Well that’s not quite true I spied it a couple of days ago
but only pulled the camera out tonight when I turned the sprinklers off
It is such an amazing bright red, gorgeous

100_0591com

Don’t ask me what it is
I have no clue
Just don’t tell my Mother that I don’t know
She’d frown before telling me what it is called lol
and then I would know
For a while
Then I would forget again

Still feeling ick but the fact I slept last night has to be a good sign
Don’t tell me otherwise lol
Will tell you how I sleep tomorrow
HA!

Friday morning, early Friday morning...

She turned 10!

Along with the surprise trip to visit Grandma we gave her a watch

The rest of the day...

I was feeling fragile.
So what does one do when they want to keep their minds on other things and keep the birthday day happy??
BAKE...
By 9 am I had made 2 cakes

and by 10 am the pumpkin and cheese muffins were cooling

and the choc chip cookies were in baking

That night Dave's brother, Uncle Samuel, and my Dad, Poppy, came for dinner, which was the requested chicken and chips. We followed that up with birthday cake.

and today we had lots of friends over for an afternoon tea birthday party. Good fun. No photos though cos I didn't get my camera out, other than to take a photo of the Hannah Montana cake, which was cracked....
Will leave you with this layout I made of Dave's Grandma and Megan. Funeral is Tuesday afternoon.

Do you remember

where you were or what you were doing at 6:18am, 10 years ago?? I do!!
this little cherub was born.

She was 2 weeks and 1 day late.
Had to be induced first lot of gel was around 8am, nothing...
the second lot of gel was around 7pm, which worked! the amount of pain made me sick.
contraction upon contraction.
I had the gas, I had the pain killers and then had an epidural and still had to wait 12 hours before they said I was ready.
She still needed encouraging out, with the help of the suction cap.
And there she was Little miss Megan.
She was born with skin missing of one of her knees.
24 hours later she was sent to intensive care, where she spent her first week, looking like a chubba baby in amongst all the premmies! And this was where we first learnt about our life with EB.
10 years on and she still does things in her own time, in her own way and doesn't like being told that life isn't all about her. She is as determined now as she was then, walking and talking at 8.5 months. She is still as gorgeous as she was the day she was born. She still teaches us how to be parents, daily! She has smart, she is clever and she is ten!

Happy birthday Megan!

Way Past My Bedtime

But I couldn't just leave and not post!!!

As you can see my 'home' has changed.

The lovely Michelle gave me a new blog banner as a RAK she had on her blog, pretty chuffed being that I had just found her blog. Anyway not only did she give me the gorgeous banner you see above but she also 'restyled' my blog into this lovely new home that you now see. I have spent tonight moving the furniture back in, ie fixing up the links etc, and now it feels just like me/mine!! THANK YOU MICHELLE!!! I am so happy with the new look! If anyone finds a link that is broken please let me know and if you visit my blog and would like me to link you please let me know that too. Because of the new digs I thought I would have a RAK, so leave a comment and I will pull a name out of the hat to win some goodies, I will include those that have already found my new look and commented :) So comment away, you have till Wednesday night, my time :)

Megan came home with her diorama today. She made it at school last term and I love it

Today Lucy and I spent the morning visiting my Great Aunt, will be a regular Monday Morning thing, so the rest of the day was filled trying to cram all the housework etc into the afternoon. But I did get the chance to make this page while Dave took Jessica to swimming :)

And Love Scrappin' have extended their 20% off sale for another week, so go grab a bargain!

Ok off to bed so I can warm up my feet... Love you Dave *grin*

NIGHT :)

Domestic Blitz

Just a quick note, last nights Domestic Blitz on telly it was about the Gibson Family. Six year old Joshua has Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) which is what Megan has. If you didn't see the show you can see the rundown of it here and there is more info on EB found here or here.
There is no cure, it is genetic and the treatment for sufferers is simply to dress and care for the 'wounds' as the skin opens and to fight any infections that may occur.
Megan hasn't had and major blisters for a long time and hasn't had a bandage since she was 18 months old. Megan is just like a 'normal' kid and the doctors are often amazed when we share with them her story. We are still waiting on a 'name' for the EB that she has as the skin biopsies came back inconclusive but we know she has the Dystrophic type due to the scarring. We know what it is like to live day to day with these blisters and it isn't something that we will forget or ever take granted. We know that we are very blessed to have Megan and we want Megan to understand how blessed she is, that it is part of her and if she decides to have kids that this will be a part of the decision process that she will have to go through. Thankful to the Gibson family for opening their home and sharing their story and thankful to Channel 9 for highlighting this genetic disorder. Hoping more people become aware of what it is and that one day there will be more help for families touched by EB.

Megan's grace and Jessica's jewellery

Have to start with this, Megan's grace at dinner time...

"Dear Jesus, thank you for the day and thank you for this pigeon poo..."

Yes Grandma we had mashed veggies!! For years I got away with calling it monster mash but then the girls found out that Dave, growing up, called it pigeon poo and tonight they decided to have fun with other names... Jessica called her serving Snake spew (spelt speooy).

Thought I would share Jessica' creation that she made for Mother's day. I love it :)

Today I finished off the other 2 mini canvases

and then I scrapped this photo of Elizabeth

Journaling "You love to blow dandelion heads! Daddy doesn't because it makes more grow in the lawn :) On this day I watched you blowing and I thought about how you'd grown. Once you were a baby then puff a gorgeous young lady!"

Also today I found out that I made it through to the final list for the Project Scrap Away Contest shocked to say the least but looking forward to seeing what the challenges are. So here is the page I made and sent in.

Journaling:
“When did your legs get so long?
When did you get so big?
I am sure it was just yesterday that you were just a little baby???
Did I close my eyes for too long and miss the transformation of baby to young lady? Seems like the blink of the eye.
Has it really been 7 years since you were growing inside of me? Almost 7 years since you decided it was your time to enter the world 7 years since our family grew by 1 again.
The time really has gone by so very fast and that scares me, before long you will take your butterfly wings and see how far they can spread. It scares me because I just don’t want to miss any of this. I don’t want to close my eyes and have 7 more years gone before I see how long those legs have got. So Jessica please PLEASE know that I am here for you, to help those wings unfold and to marvel at all you transform into. I love you.”

Half the week gone

so we are now on the run to the weekend :)

This week Megan came home with her Student Council badge

She had a grin on her face when she showed me, but grins and cameras are something Megan think don't go together lol

Today, amongst the usual run around and visits to the fruitshop, petrol station and library, I scrapped these two pages.

Elizabeth helped me with this one, by doing some writing.

The lovely Sandra awarded me this

Thanks Sandra :)

Here are the rules:

1. You have to nominate 5 blogs.

2. Each of the blogs must have a purpose!

3. The nominated blogs must make a link back to this page!

4. The logo from the award must be put on their blog and it must link back to this blog.

So I would like to pass this on to Karen Lusi Mel M
