I Dream Of Summer Days Filled With Colour

Here we are mid week
Already into February
This time next week I, and the girls, will have  survived the first day of school and be ready-ing ourselves for Lucy’s first day of kinder… more on that one later :)
It has been warm/hot for the past 4 days
Sunday night Dave pulled out the blow up pool and filled it for the girls
My sister and her 2 girls came over and enjoyed a splash before staying the night

Monday
my sister and her girls went home after a wonderful time here
We had to get some groceries etc and came home with a minicino, for the girls, and a caramel latte for me
Late Monday afternoon Megan was picked up and went for a sleepover at a friends

Tuesday
we picked Megan up and went to pay our school fees
Megan’s teacher from last year was there and asked if I was ready
I burst into tears on her
Seems that after being so good at not thinking about it I finally caved
No I am not ready but they are and that’s the most important thing :) :)

After, our, lunch my pal Allison came to visit, in her lunch hour, and brought us all icecreams
So we sat outside and enjoyed :)

then last night we had friends, Joe and Anna and their 3 kidlets, over for a bbq

Joe had made Megan an early birthday cake, her birthday is on Saturday
A fruit cake…

it didn’t last long :)

and today….

Haircuts for the girls

Another thing crossed off my to-do-before-school-starts list
The girls then spent some of the day playing with some plasticine

Lucy

and Megan made the universe… or her interpretation of it, using apricot leave stems and a branch

Love Tara Whitney’s blog and her post regarding a photo of all of us really inspired me
I had taken some photos, while we were in Launceston in January, so I knew I could really do this
So I am hoping to continue this on each month for the whole year
And think it will be a) fun and b) rewarding once I have 12 months worth of photos with all 6 of us in
But I know it will be a challenge to a) remember and b) get cooperation :)
So here are our umm family snaps from January, which will also explain the dilemma in getting family photos :)
Yay to cameras with timers :)

Hoping that by the end of the year the girls might realise what we are doing and I will be interested to see how the photos change :)

Ingeborg recently awarded me this

Happy101award
If you receive the award, you have to mention 10 things that make you happy
so in no order at all
1 time with family or friends
2 baking, just looking at the cupcakes on the award makes me happy lol
3 having someone make time for me
4 being creative
5 taking photos
6 cuddles
7 being told I love you
8 being able to say I love you
9 sunshine
10 bare feet

and pass it on to 3 people
So I am passing it on to
Allison
Julie
Lisa

and Belinda gave me this one a while back, but I couldn’t find it in my files!

kreative blog award

The idea is to tell 7 unknown facts about yourself and then send the award onto 7 more people.
7 facts…
1 I had heaps of things for the girls to do over the holidays, the in-case-they-get-bored-list, and we did NONE
2 I really want to go on holidays
3 I am better at 10 pin bowling in real life than on the Wii
4 Today I found out that my best friend’s Great Aunt was married to Dave’s Grandma’s cousin…
5 I need to make 2 3 things so I can post off some happy mail to some people
6 We had another bbq for dinner tonight, Dave made some hamburgers and they were yum! We also cooked some sweet potato on the bbq and they were yum too
7 I don’t know why I had to underline and bold a word in each fact, but I did!

Ok… 7 people…
Think I will just pass it on to anyone who wants to play along
Please let me know you have played along so I can come read you 7 things :)

and finally
To end this mammoth post
I recieved my Qtea kit, Roller Derby Doll,  yesterday and got my teeth into it straight away

I made an inspiration wire

100_9945

and a layout

100_9992

some close ups

100_9993

Love LOVE the roller skate pendant

100_9994

and journaling :)

100_9996

I also have a little tutorial, found here on the Q Tea blog, on how to cover a badge/button with fabric

Phew lol
That’s it :)
Over and Out :) :)

From The House Of Thomas

the tank engine that is...
For Christmas each of the girls received, from Santa, some Thomas Train track, to add to their stash of Thomas stuff. Today the pulled the whole lot out.

Trains

and track

and built a track that went around the whole house, yes they had that much and then some!
The narrow stretch down the hallway

past the kitchen, over what I call Fridge Mountain

and then right back through the lounge room.

They all had a ball, some more than others RIGHT DAVE??!!!

Today I spent 2 hours at the hairdressers, my goodness 2 hours! I had my hair cut and coloured as well as an eyebrow shape and lash tint. Here are the results

So now I am all ready for the wedding on Saturday ;)
While I was gone Dave took the girls to the Dr's as we think Lucy has whopping cough too. She has had a hacky cough from time to time for the last day or so and we are guessing that it's whopping cough like my sisters kidlets. Lucy is now on antibiotics so hopefully the cough will soon be gone.

While I remember here is a sneak peek at the goodies I created for Scrap-n-Crop with their January kit which goes on sale on the 1st

you can see more in their gallery.

and it is with sadness that I read just now that my online blog buddy Beverley has passed away after a suspected bleed on the brain. Such a shock, will miss her and am thinking of her family and friends.

Congrats to Sonja

what an amazing ride Project Scrap-Away has been! Well done to Sonja for winning, congrats also to Rachel for doing a marvellous job and to both for making it to the end as well! Well done to the Scrap-n-Crop team for the wonderful competition and the amazing inspiration each week and a big thank you for allowing me to be a part of the journey. Also thanks to the judges who were so amazing and gracious in their comments and I just have to note down, on my blog what they had to say.

From Carrie Postma Owner & Designer, Paper Trunk http://www.papertrunk.com/
"What I loved about Sharmaine's "Home" projects is that she chose to alter items to display throughout her home. The recycled frame was a fantastic idea and will make a darling statement in her home. She used various items in her projects that are inspiring and shows you can scrap out of the box!"

"I loved Sharmaine's Challenge 2...wow, so beautiful!"

From Becky Higgins Creating Keepsakes http://www.beckyhiggins.com/
"Super whimsical and fun. You can tell Sharmaine loves to play with product. I totally dig the home theme that she went for with her grand final entry, since that's one of my personal favorite subjects."

From Jenni Bowlin
"What a fun and funky style!! Made me happy just looking at everything. I liked the home theme- so much you could do with that. I loved the short story mini album!! I always say that in 50 years they can look at a photo and see that it was Christmas and they got a new bike, but it's this type of journaling (as in the mini book idea) that will be cherished and is the best gift you can give!"

"I find Sharmaine's work to be so freestyle and fun. I love her work and her use of techniques. She is a gifted artist. I enjoyed her projects very much. I loved her painted artwork- inspiring!!!!"
From Dominique Quintal Présidente Rose Moka Design
"Beautiful with is bright colours. Like a magic sunny day!"
Isn't that so amazing!!! Those words were written about my work!!! ME!?!!?!!! Yep I am pinching myself!!! Just amazing!!!
Now bringing myself down to Earth for a minute, lol. Today I found more of the icky blighters but in Lucy's hair this time and then to make it worse the poor tyke has a cold, snotty nose, cough the works AND has conjunctivitis! So we had a trip to the doctors today and now have some drops for her eyes and a script for some antibiotics if we need them while we are away. So now hoping that is the end of all the bugs and we can have a sickfree/licefree/coldfree time at Grandma's. I mean last year was the works so shouldn't this time be free of all that yucky stuff?? HUH?!! !!
The sun has been shining brightly the last few days so we have been outside lots, when we have been home(!!). Elizabeth and Lucy keep asking to do this

So we have lol. Wednesday night I started putting together the journal that I bought from Freckled Nest and yesterday I finally finished it AND I LOVE IT!!
Thank you Leigh-Ann!! I love the New Kits On The Block that she has on sale now, alas not buying just drooling!!!
I am over the moon that I can tell you some news... Suzie from Love Scrappin' has chosen lil' ol' me to be part of her Design team!! I am so so so happy and have already had some goodies sent to me to play with! Here is what I made with the yummy Pink Paislee papers and some Buzz and Bloom chipboard

Can't wait for the site to go live and see everything in action, but if you can't CAN'T wait you can go visit Suzie's blog and purchase that way. Lots of yummy things and at a great price!!
The haircut... Hmmm Short would be the first word that springs to mind.. SHORT!!! I just sit there and let the hairdresser have her way with me and I think she did this time lol I am hoping it, excuse the pun, grows on me cos I ain't feeling it right now lol
Yup... short!! Which this post isn't so I will leave you with another photo of apricot blossom, just for you Grandma :) 2 sleeps to go!!!

Milestones, haircuts and other fun stuff

Yesterday, as well as celebrating her birthday, Megan had a swimming lesson in which she did backstroke for the very first time AND went up the deep end even though she was terrified!!! So proud of her and how well she is doing at swimming!! One more private lesson next week and then we can book some classes.

Another milestone... Today Lucy took herself to the toilet 3 YES 3 times!! First time I was on my way to the kitchen to make their lunch when she comes out and tells me "i just did a wee"!! Oh my I was shocked and proud!!! The next time I was coming inside, heard the toilet flush and out she comes with her jeans and undies and asks me to help her put them on because she just went to the toilet and the third time was after Dave got home, we saw her wander off and we sneaked a peek around the corner and sure enough there she was perched on the loo!! I am amazed and sooooo glad!!! This morning she screamed when Dave put her on the toilet, before getting dressed, declaring she couldn't do anything, which proved wrong lol and there she was just off and going all by herself without any prompting from us!! OH MY I LOVE IT WHEN IT ALL COMES TOGETHER LIKE THAT!!!!

Today I created another page in my art journal:

Inspired by the thought of having faith in yourself, just stepping out and doint it. Having faith in others, sometimes a hard one. Having faith in God, sometimes another hard one. But when it all comes to it, we just have to step out, have faith and see what happens.

And I also turned this:

Into this

Covered the outside with some Love, Elise fabric paper, added the sticker and lettering and covered that with dimensional magic.

Painted the inside

Used the other side of a pen and some ink to make circles on the ink.

Added some little journal strips to the photos

and a little note to Megan in the back

This afternoon the girls had their haircut.

And this arrived today

My new monitor!! ALL SHINY and NEW!!! Love it :) It has a web cam and mic and Dave was playing around with some of the camera features....

The girls thought it was lots of fun!!

Dave is at soccer training tonight, that time of the year again!! Lost Series 4 starts tonight so we will watch that together after he gets home. Will leave you with this photo of our Miss Potato Head :)

Thanks for visiting.
